Thalia tried tried to remember if she recognised the island, or the man or the spell or any information. “Did you?”

Archimedes bit his lower lip while he made the shrimp look like a scene worthy of the famous painter from Bastion, Fablo Ficasso. The creature lay on the ship's deck sperad open, there was ichor everywhere, organs floating in jars and bits and pieces of carapace categorized by thickness and size. "This is quite an impressive specimen, but I am afraid there might be unnatural, outside forces acting on them." He said to the rest of the team, removing ichor covered gloves and handing them over to Sabrina. "You see that swelling on the lower abdomen?! That, my friends, is a petasma. And what can we under from a swollen petasma? Well, first, that it is a male, but that's not the point. What matters is that the there is rarely swealing in the petasma and one of the reasons this can occur is due to exposure to magical energy. More especifically, augmentation magic." "Where am I going with this?" Archie cleared his throat. "This, couple to the fact that we have just witnessed this new shrimp specimen... Which by the way, I am naming the Heterocarpus Magnus Stellerensis, Ms. Melchior, Please note that down... Reduce it's body mass by more than half, I am led to believe that someone or something turned them into the monstrosities that assailed our ship." Sabrina dutifully recorded the professor’s notes. One of his birds of paradise flew by her head and roosted in the crow’s nest. “Where did that come from...?” She shook her head. “Augmentation magic? But, but...” the captain cut in. “No one knows we’re here,” she grunted. “And yet here is the evidence to the contrary. Anyone talk the night before we left?”

Thalia tried tried to remember if she recognised the island, or the man or the spell or any information. “Did you?” She’s never seen any of the aforementioned things although the spellcast has the gesturing components common to many augmentation spells. “Not a single damned thing,” the sorceress said. “But I’ll be looking for it now, you can bet your ass on that.”

Archiemedes immediately turned a disapproving frown towards Nigel.
"Ms. Melchior, would you please add this to mixture number 7? Let it until it turns into a bright pink, then transfer it to one of the small flasks." Archiemedes handed her a but of the creature's chitinous carapace. Being purposefully vague about his alchemical experiments, he didn't want the other team members meddling in his studies. "Then summon me when it is done... Oh yes, and prepare subject #23 for testing."

Sabrina nodded and scampered downstairs. She was an apt pupil so it wouldn’t take more than fifteen minutes or so.

"Captain, I will leave you to solving the mystery of our potential mole." The professor encouraged, cleaning his hands on one of the water barrels of clean water. "There are discoveries to be made in the hold! So if you will excuse me..."
It was not long after the Doctor had gone downstairs to his cabin that a shout could be heard from deck.
"WHO RELEASED MY BIRDS?! AND WHERE ARE MY FISH?" He vociferated in anger. He clearly had been way more bothered by this than by the loss of his inter.

“Yes. You and I both” she said, keeping her imaginings to herself.
She heard the good doctor yelling and was unphased, “more salt?l”

Elise looked with an annoyed glance up towards the deck with the shouting alchemist. “Please, these biscuits are as hard as rocks and have roughly the same flavor. I’ve got wine back in the room if you feel a thirst coming on.”

"Captain, I demand an investigation on this! Whoever did this is clearly trying to undermine this research..." Archimedes barked as he came up the stairs once again. "And by undermining my research, one puts this whole expedition in jeopardy!"
His eyes flared as the studied each and every one of the individuals on deck. His nostrils pulsated as like an angry bull ready to charge at a toreador.
"Whoever did this, do you even realize why those birds were there in the first place?" He thumped an leather-booted foot against the wooden deck. "You better pray to whatever Dynast that Ms. Melchior is able to get them back in their cage..."

Damien walked past the the good doctor and headed back down to his cabin to put away his crossbow. He jumped down a flight of stairs to land gracefully at the bottom and strode along to this cabin.

Demeter seemed unperturbed. “I don’t recall you being the financier of this expedition,” she said. “And there’s one of your birds right there,” she pointed up. Archimedes saw three of his birds of paradise flirting around the ship. They couldn’t rightly fly anywhere else as there was no land for several hundred miles.

"The time I will spend trying to get those birds back into their cages is time I could be studying that monstrosity over there..." Archie pointed angrily at the shrimps remains. "If whatever affected it could do this to a shrimp, imagine what it could do to a shark? Or even a Nedrassian Serpent! We almost got killed by SHRIMP! Do you realize how stupid shrimp are? But now I will have to spend Dynasts know how long trying to recapture those birds instead of better understanding the main threat to this expedition."
"And my fish! Do you know how long I spent trying to catch these specific species?" He raised both his arms, ranting at no one in particular. "Each of them served a special purpose for both the research and the expedition. Some of them were perfect to identify substances in the water, others to find directions... Do you think I brought them because I thought they were cute to look at?! Now poof! Gone!"

Tehol sends K'rull to help capture to birds. He doesn't specify as to how, except the creature can probably climb the rigging fairly easily.

“We are going that way,” she pointed. “But I get it. You can hire me to take you on your own little nature expedition sometime. Now stop wasting your time with the damn birds and figure out where these scampi motherfuckers came from.”
K’Rull is dangerous when allowed to determine how to achieve a task. He chased the lowest flying bird in loop after loop around the ship.

Archimedes stared in apprehension as K'rull swung from beam to sail trying to collect the birds. He was pretty sure that Tehol's little pet would end up eating both of his subjects. After a couple moments, Archie sighed.
"I will be in my cabin studying the shrimp, tell me if this operation is successful." He said to the group, stubbornly nodding at the captain. "This story is not over. I WILL find out who did this. It shall not go unpunished."
