“Ships around here sail in groups when they come here at all, and as you can see that isn’t too often,” the captain said. “Me and my dad have been here more than about anyone alive and even I’ve only made this run a half dozen times. The natives of Asamar don’t have much other than piracy and stolen goods to occupy themselves with. My father watched the ship sink with his own eyes or so he told me.” Everyone heard a single shot come from the Tranquility. “Guess it’s too lte to worry about making noise now.”

"Is there trouble over there? Should we investigate it?" Thalia asked her looking in the direction of the other ship, "Would you like me to nip over there?" She asked, trying to judge the distance to see if she could levitate over that way.

The captain took out a spyglass and watched a moment. “No apparently that quiet elf just doesn’t like whatever they’re having for dinner. Everyone else looks fine.” She chuckled and offered Thalia the spyglass. “I admit, your presence here makes me think it’s the Queen of Lisandre who hired us all. Both of yours,” she added, including Elise in it. “Not that I care. I’d work for anyone for what I got paid.”

“No, I mean the view the old pervert got when he barged in on the good Captain and me earlier.” Nigel chuckles and muttered something about sea cats, reveling in his own impeccable and refined sense of comedy. “So did any of the illustrations leave you inspired? Perhaps you dog eared a few pages you’d like to try on for size? A fair warning, like my adventures, they are not for the faint of heart.” She did remember hearing some screeching about something earlier in the voyage. Her eyes drifted toward the captain, wondering how a woman like that got taken in by Nigel’s...Nigelness within the first hour of the voyage. “Perhaps a little Curiosity, but I think the illustrations mostly explain themselves. Very scientific in a way,” she giggled, nodding toward the good doctor, who was still in a fit about his birds and beasties. “Anyway...I think I ought to be going.”

"If you're sure. As you not doubt noticed in my books, I do some of my finest work after a good fight, when the blood is up," he remarked, turning his gaze from the horizon to her form. "You afforded yourself well in the fight. You stand tall among the Mighty Thornhearts now."

"You afforded yourself well in the fight. You stand tall among the Mighty Thornhearts now." Justine actually grinned, glad to see a slightly different side of him. She didn’t care to be a sidekick, but she took the compliment as it had been intended. “Well thank you. Hopefully we manage as well the next time. I feel as though the beasties will only be getting bigger and nastier as we go along.” She turned to take her leave. “Good evening, Mr Thornheart.”

"If you want to see big and nasty, you know where my cabin is. Aha!" Nigel replied, slapping her ass as she turned to walk away. Apparently he had met his quota for genuine moments for the month.

Justine jumped as he gave her a slap. She turned around looking shocked for a moment but of course Nigel would be Nigel. She laughed half heartedly and kept going, hiding the wince in pain from the armored gauntlet. She would be thinking about that for some time, and not in the way Nigel would wish.
“Good day.”

Demeter yawned and nodded. “Good. All that noise is bound to have alerted the Serpent to our presence. Whoever sicced these things on is probably meant to have that exact effect and that really pisses me off.” Sabrina came up from below with a pink vial. “It’s done Professor!!” "Perfect! Prepare the harnesses and the tranquilizers." Archimedes having met her halfway to his cabin, took the vial from her hands, carefully analyzing the substance inside. "Clear some room in the Cabin and secure the specimen. I will see if I am able to find some extra hands now that Lenny has joined the dear departed." The professkr pocketed the potion and made his way back to the deck. "Tehol, my boy!" He shouted, waving excitedly at Nookington. "I may be in need of some extra hands for the experiment. Would you come over and bring K'rull?! Thanks!"

Tehol who had just managed to get K’rull to stop chasing birds in circles like some psychotic flying lemur, and was about to set him to doing it properly when the doctor called.
“What sort of experiment would this one be?” He says making his way over, a screaming K’rull in tow.

"The empirical type..." Archie said smiling, while he approached Tehol. Once he was close enough he muttered in the lad's ear. "One that requires a bow leveled at a potential threat, and that we shouldn't be talking very loudly about."

Tehol eyes the man a little skeptically, “And who might this target be?”

Blood still hot from battle, Nigel decided to seek out one of the two women aboard he had not yet attempted to ply with his not so subtle battering ram akin wiles. As Talia was busy speaking with the captain, he looked for Elise.
Noting a bit of bird shit on his pauldron, he calmly took the previously offered pistol from the cabin boy, shot one of the birds from the crows nest, and continued on his quest. Hopefully it wasn’t an albatross.

The bird collapses in an explosion of multicolored feathers. Elise watched him shoot it with disdainful look. “Was that really necessary?” She asked.

“Heroes are not forged from those who concern themselves with what is necessary or good enough or the bare minimum,” Nigel replied, striking a heroic pose as he hastily wiped the bird shit from his pauldron, standing gloriously in the confetti of multi colored feathers. “Heroes simple do.” He made a mental note to remember that quote for his book.
