Herneiros stood up to look over the side of the boat.

Herneiros can see the strange being a are slightly bigger than men, with shrimp like antennae and strange springlike arms. Even as he marvels at the strangeness of their appearance an arm fires at lightning speed to try grabbing him and he barely ducks behind the railing in time to dodge the grasp.

Crouching behind the railing, Herneiros laughed in delight. "Multiple specimens below us. I did not know such interesting fauna exist outside Mist. Raises interesting questions about natural state of Mother Earth. Still... too small to kill shark. Possibly scavengers but I would not examine them too closely..."

At that, Kjell put a hand on Ceutinde’s shoulder and pulled her away from the railing, just in case she’d get frozen on the spot or something. Happened sometimes to first-timers. She took her arquebus off her shoulder and watched the railing for any signs of those things.

Silvia ran down to her cabin to put away her lute, and to grab her sword and her arquebus. Then she raced back on deck, making sure she stayed away from the rail.

Ceutinde backed up at Kjell's touch, retreating halfway across the deck. She kept an eye on the port side as well, in case there were more.

Each side of the ship makes creaking noises as the strange beasts latch on to the railing or whatever else they may gain purchase on and begin dragging themselves into the Tranquility’s deck. The crew grab whatever weapons are available to start fighting them off.

Ceutinde continued her steady breathing and tried to center herself as the creatures rose around the deck, calling up the energy within and without to bring her magic to bear. Surely she had something that would help. Ah. Yes. Not her usual application, but it was worth a shot. She held out a hand toward one of the shrimp and made a shooing motion, whispering, "And stay out."
(OOC: Cast 86 on the closest uninjured shrimp.)

Herneiros picks up his bow and begins firing arrows in an effort to produce Deep Shrimp Kebob which he would no doubt find delicious.
(Ranged 80. No magical effects added.)

Herneiros: 151/98 Kjell: 181 Bodyguard Kevin: 133 Bodyguard Whitney: 119 Bodyguard Costner: 122 Silvia (gun): 138
Kjell and two of Konrad’s bodyguards unload on one of the man-shrimp, blasting its eye stalks off and leaving an epic mess for cabin boy to clean up. Herneiros and Silvia blast away at a second one which rushes towards them at full speed even after arrows impale it’s right tendril and a mass of lead cracks its leg armor. Another one curiously jumps right off the ship and begins swimming for the bottom thousands of feet below.

Silvia put aside her arquebus and drew her sword and her dagger. Her adrenaline rose as she prepared to face the enemy.
"Come at me, fish fiends!" She yelled.

Ceutinde smiled as the shrimp ran off like a rowdy customer. That was actually a bit fun. She did her best to stay out of reach and behind the sailors/her companions, sending a knockoff magic missile at the closest target.

Silvia: (-5 for dual wielding): 170/79/103/144, Pistol 144 Enemy armor: 130
As Herneiros finished his protective spell, Silvia waited for the shrimp to arch back for its tendril strike and then she dove right into it, her sword hacking at the base of the appendage. She takes a cut as one of her swings goes wild but her dagger buried itself into the beast’s eye, and she used a move she had practiced a hundred times, smoothly drawing her pistol from its inverted holster and firing point blank into the ichor spewing hole. The beast fell to the ground.
