She turned slightly. "What power is that? Magic isn't my strong point, obviously. I suppose I could use you as cover and fire at the bloody things though."
She looked around to see how many were left to fight.

"It is a long and very intricate explanation involving the exploitation of residual thaumarurgical resonance from the cosmos and certain psychological techniques developed by Elven druids over past millennium... but basically, it is 'big dick magic for prevention of being raped in arse by shrimp monster'. Good stuff!"
He raised his axe.

Kjell: 162 Ceutinde (spell): 122
The elf’s spell bounces off the thick shrimp exoskeleton but once again Kjell’s arquebus finds it’s mark, blowing another hole into one of the semi sentient beasts. Another leaps into a sailor and impales him then scurried off the ship. They seem to be rapidly losing their taste for the fight though as the strange wooden Twinkie had proven to be spicier than anticipated.

Silvia peered out from behind Herneiros, arquebus in hand as she prepared to take a shot. The man's way of speaking struck her as odd but she was starting to warm to him.
"That's an excellent explanation. I'm most grateful for your assistance."

To the duo’s right a final shrimp rises like lightning and it’s savage attacks lance out faster than thought.
Shrimp: 155/141
Herneiros takes the brunt of the attack and his strange magical barrier blinks green as it slows the stunning impact
Herneiros takes 24 damage
Herneiros: 132/115/87 Silvia: 112 Kjell: 139
Two cracks of guns and one Herneiros axe attack later and the suddenly limbless shrimp retreats with its kin. From the Odyssey the adventurers see steam of some sort rising from all sides as the sea appears to be boiling.

End of combat
//
As silence settles back over the battlefield the sailors take stock of wounds. One had died but most everyone else seemed reasonably healthy. Zavier has his strange magical bauble in his right hand and a gore covered cutlass in his left. “That was unexpected,” he grumbled.

Silvia put down her arquebus. "It was, but it was a bloody good fight. I've had worse fights, certainly." Her grin was wide and there was a wild look in her eyes; she hadn't come down from her adrenaline high, "Wretched shrimp. I hope the other crew's alright." She shaded her eyes as she looked across to the other vessel.

“I’m never going to feel bad about boiling them in butter salt and garlic again,” he grumbled. “Are you hurt bad?” He asked, pointing to her shoulder. Silvia couldn’t see the other ship well as it was now completely enveloped in steam from the boiling sea but she did notice splashes of the shrimp creatures diving off in probable retreat. “And that wasn’t even the damn serpent.”

"I'm fine," she said, as she always did when someone asked about her wounds. But even as she spoke, her shoulder throbbed as the adrenaline rush began to wear off. "I suppose I should find someone to tend it though, before I bleed all over the deck. Hopefully before we encounter the serpent."

“I can-“ he started before remembering a legitimate master healer was on board. “Probably a good idea,” he said instead. “I’ll clean your swords if you want. I gotta wash mine off anyway. It smells like old seafood. Hell, I guess it IS old seafood...”
The creatures on the deck begin shrinking much as (unbeknownst to them) Professor Stelller’s study material was as well.

Ceutinde look around, wild-eyed, as the last of them fled before letting loose a victorious cackle, saying, "That was exhilarating! Is it always like that?" Before noticing her wounded fellows. "Let me see to all that. Zavier, be a dear, run down to my cabin and grab my medical bag. Under the bed, next to the toys." She stepped closer to Herneiros and Silvia, inspecting their wounds.
(Medical 70 to determine severity, whether they'll need stitches, that kind of thing.)

Medical 142
Neither of them are badly hurt, and normal salves and a bandage will do for both.
Zavier finished talking to Silvia and nodded. “Toys..?” He said with some confusion before scampering quickly down the stairs.

"Nothing too terrible, should heal up nicely with some care. Let's get these clothes off so I can..." She stopped herself, realizing the setting, "Let's go below, unless you want to give the crew a show, Silvia. Got to get some bandages on and that shirt will need washing and mending anyway."

Silvia grinned at Zavier's confusion. "Ah, the poor lad has much to learn about women." She nodded to Ceutinde when the elf turned to her. "You're right, of course, but I expect the crew will still talk, after that comment of yours. But I don't mind. The mystery will do them all good, and it won't harm either of our reputations."
