The Nedrassian Trench isn’t long, and by noon of the next day the ships see vessels for the first time in nearly two weeks. The pirate ships are about the size of the Tranquility albeit slightly more heavily armed, but the Odyssey clearly outclassed them all alone and as such they are unmolested as they approach the island of Asanar. Captain Demeter was confused as the voyage apparently usually took two full days, but since the Serpent’s appearance the flotilla’s speed has increased considerably, apparent leftovers of whatever ancestral magic the beast possessed.
Asanar, according to Archimedes hideously incorrect travelogue, is an island approximately thirty miles east to west and twenty at its longest from north to south, a savage land filled with ruins and jungle and old magic and monsters. For centuries criminals had used it to stage raids as far west as Lisandre, retreating to their hidden base in the Bay if Dragon’s Teeth, their city Graveston a walled fortress separating beastly men from beasts themselves. At some point, however, the city was destroyed, and now the remaining pirates survive by living in the great Bay itself, making homes on the great volcanic plugs that jut from the sea to heights of seventy meters, building rope bridges between the dozen of so largest rocks, their ships safe in the sheltered coves formed by the great coral reefs.
From the sea, the island is a lush green, with only a single two thousand foot tepui somewhere near the island’s center providing any sort of landmark.

As the ships sail near the island on their way northwest, both captains notice a storm brewing in the east and decide to head to the ports of Dragon’s Teeth Bay to wait out the inevitable ship-crushers.

"Behold!" Cried out the Wild Huntsman like some demented tour guide standing in the wind. "Asanar! Home of the Asanine!"

Silvia stood on deck. She spent much more time on deck than she did in her cabin, because she liked to fee the sea air on her face, watch the waves and generally watch the bustle of shipboard life.
"I've always wanted to come here," she informed Herneiros. "Even when I was little more than a girl. I used to tease my sisters with it all the time - they were both mortified."

Konrad came out onto the deck and looked at the island. "I'll confess, I did not see myself here in a million years." It had the look of a particularly dirty and violent amusement park.

Damien walked off the ship and looked about. He looked at a group of his fellow travelers, "Does the Pirate Queen Morgan le Bocca still rule? She and I had a falling out I am afraid. And it is possible she will want that jeweled skull back. Unfortunately I traded it away for a kiss. Which is of course an entirely different story." He couldn't help but smile at the layout of the Pirate island. "Those rope bridges are really quite ingenious. If someone you don't like is calling on you, you just have to cut three cords, and that problem is solved." He stroked his chin and said, "It is damn wonderful."

Justine disembarked the Odyssey with a bit of a skip to her step. “Land! Glorious land!” She could have kissed the dirt...if it wasn’t so dirty.

Konrad looked over at Justine, and smiled in spite of himself. He wasn't much of a sailor either, and it was good to not being swaying constantly. "Where are you headed too first?" he asked, "Now that you're back on glorious land?"

Justine stumbled a bit, still feeling the roll of the water despite the firm earth below her feet. She put her hands on her hips as she turned to look at Konrad, who she had been, well, avoiding wasn’t the right word, but neither had she been seeking him out. “I’m not sure. I’ve never been to a pirate island before. Perhaps I’ll go to the tavern and get embroiled in a bar fight. That sounds pretty piratical you me.”
She clearly got all her ideas about pirates from books.

"Well I was just planning on drinking more than my fair share, and maybe singing a rousing chorus of "Blow the Man Down," Konrad replied with a chuckle, "but if you need anyone to watch your back, I'm your man."

She looked at him somewhat warily for a moment and then decided it was as good an idea as any. “Alright, probably better to go in a pair than alone, just in case. You’ll have to teach me the words to that one, though. Don’t know I’ve heard it.”
She reached for his arm. “Shall we?”

He offered his arm, humming a few lines, “oh blow the mannnnn down!” He sang.
The worst thing that could happen, he decided, was that she could end up making him symmetrical.

"Hmm. I don't know if I ever had any siblings, but that sounds like something I would have said too. Are your sisters also beautiful swashbuckling adventures or are you the black sheep of the family?" Silvia grinned. "My oldest sister's a proper lady, and heiress to our mother's estate. My other sister's a paladin, like our father. I always said that since I had only two parents and my sisters were destined to follow in their footsteps, I had to choose a different path. Mine is more fun anyway. Noble ladies are supposed to be all prim and proper, or so my sister would have you believe. And paladins...well...just think about all that dreadful piety." She pulled a face. "I'd rather follow the gods who like their followers to have some fun, wouldn't you?" She gazed at the island ahead. It looked like a ramshackle places, but she often thought those were more interesting anyway. "Shall we go ashore? I'm eager to feel dry land beneath my feet, and what better way to do that than to explore a new location?"

Tehol stumbles off the ship, still teary eyed and somewhat weepy. He looks around and can't help thinking how much K'rull would have liked the island with all of it's lush jungles and reefs.
