Silvia grinned. "My oldest sister's a proper lady, and heiress to our mother's estate. My other sister's a paladin, like our father. I always said that since I had only two parents and my sisters were destined to follow in their footsteps, I had to choose a different path. Mine is more fun anyway. Noble ladies are supposed to be all prim and proper, or so my sister would have you believe. And paladins...well...just think about all that dreadful piety." She pulled a face. "I'd rather follow the gods who like their followers to have some fun, wouldn't you?" She gazed at the island ahead. It looked like a ramshackle places, but she often thought those were more interesting anyway. "Shall we go ashore? I'm eager to feel dry land beneath my feet, and what better way to do that than to explore a new location?" "Ah." All of this sounded quite dull to Herneiros, who had little interest in that sort of society. "Yes, some trees and a nice mountain should charm our spirits."

Ceutinde headed off the Tranquility, one of Konrad's bodyguards in tow for an escort, looking to see the standards of the brothels in town and help if she could. She brought her medical bag, but dressed simply, trying to look inconspicuous.

Ceutinde returned to the Tranquility after her short field trip to Priscilla's. She poured a drink and waited for the message from Lamas, as well as to see what stragglers came home and wanted to kill some slaving pimps.

Well unfortunately, viewing local wildlife and eating with evil wizards ranked higher than human rights on this voyage. An hour or so later a naked man wearing golden chains brought a letter back.
Your invitation intrigued me and I wish to know more. Come back within the hour so we can discuss this.

She sighed, produced another sheet, and sent the chained man back with the following:
Sir,
I hope you will understand my preference to meet somewhere more open, and in daylight. Perhaps I am over-cautious, but caution is not the worst trait in business relationships.
Fondest regards,
C
Once he was gone, she told the sailors that remained on board to keep a sharp eye out, and weapons on hand, just in case that was a scouting trip.

Zavier walked over to her after the naked man left. “I don’t think you got your money’s worth with that one,” he deadpanned.

She laughed at that, pleased to see the boy was around. "Unfortunately, I've seen where he works. Not looking to catch leprosy of the labia. And I would advise you to stay away from Priscilla's on any nights out on the town."

Zavier nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind. You’re the expert on disease. What was he here for? Looked like you were sending letters.” He frowned and looked up the gigantic rock wall. “I don’t trust this place farther than I can throw it. At least the Odyssey’s got a lot of guns. I was gonna go talk to Captain Demeter. She’s been here before anyway.”

"It's probably a stupid idea on my part," She said with a sigh, thinking how to explain, "I looked in on a brothel, here. The conditions were horrendous. Filthy, with the girls kept in line by a telepath with a crocodile. I'm of two minds. Part of me would like to try to buy out the proprietor. The other part would like to have him killed and thrown into the bay. At any rate, it ends with an actual business rather than a den of prisoners being used by every pirate in town."

As they approached us Island, Thalia approached the captain again, “this is the island the Sorcerer was on?” She explained to her, “so be careful.”

Demeter ties her hair back into a ponytail while Thalia spoke. “That makes sense,” she said. “I don’t plan on going ashore too much and we’ll keep the guns manned. Rest assured we can blow anything here out of the water in one broadside. That’s of course, assuming you don’t do whatever crazy sorcery you do and melt the damn things.”

That is crazy,” Zavier agreed. “So you’re gonna try buying him off...then we murder him and feed him to the psychic crocodile if that fails? That doesn’t seem like a bad idea...but when we’re done what do we do? This whole place is crawling with pirates and...much as everyone here would be into it I don’t think we can travel with like a brigade of wenches.” He stopped and looked off into the sky a moment. “Can we?”

“Well, if I do, then you won’t need to blow them out, I will check the pace out, see what I can find out.” She nodded, feeling a kind of kinship with the captain as the only sane people on the oddessey.

She opted to let the boy dream and not correct him on the psychic crocodile. "Well I don't see why not, and it's my ship. If some want to leave, I'd be hard pressed not to offer them passage. Those that want to stay, they'd need to find a way to look after themselves. Buy protection, be ready to fight if they need to. It was the same thing when the House of P&R opened, plenty of pimps and madames didn't want us in business. But you fight for something better."
