...only to turn and see Herneiros and Silvia Raizer arriving.
"Ah! I remember this pair from the meeting. Perhaps you are also wanting to visit dangerous part of island for personal gratification?"
He turned to the dwarf. "Are you also perchance professional explorer? Would you care to join us? The Wild Huntsman offers a free tour but insists you bring your own weapons. I am not a shopkeeper."

Silvia smiled warmly at Tehol, who she remembered from the tavern. They had spoken only briefly but she vividly remembered K'rull, his adorable animal companion. She recalled the older man as well, who had been in company with Tehol when they met.
"Good day to you both, I hope you had a pleasant voyage. Ours was...dramatic. I shall never forget my first sight of the Nedrassian serpent." She thought rather smugly of the scale concealed in her cabin. She had yet again forgotten to ask Ceutinde about a better place to store it.

The greedy little dwarf rubbed his fingers together. “Twenty more gold coins please,” he cackled. “My friend is prepping the boat now. Gonna have to be as fast as Isaak to beat the storm, yes oh yes!”
It is worth wondering to an outside observer what the tourists consider their odds of survival to be.

Tehol stares and nods slightly to his fellow adventurers. If the idea of his survival rate crossed his mind, he figured it would be much higher then the dwarfs.

"Well, hello there, lady and gentleman!" Archie waved them over excitefly. "Sure sure, it would be an honor to have you tag along. With the whole boat separation, I believed we haven't had much time to be introduced..."
And Archie went on with his usual introductory piece, presenting his name, his role in the zoological community and presenting the duo with little exotic tea bags.

Herneiros raised his hand as though refusing tribute. "No, as I said, my protection is free. Merely do not stand too close while I am performing frightful magicks or while I am aiming my bow."
Herneiros turned to his fellow adventurers. In addition to face paint and the hides of various strange critters, he was now sporting bracers crafted from the carapace of one of the giant mantis shrimp that had attacked them. They were very swanky.
"I have heard of you, Professor of Secret Truths. I am told you are a very skilled physician and great wanderer. I have never read any of you of your texts, but your name is known among the hunters." He looked at Tehol. "Where is the fluffy puppy? That one has good spirit."

Tehol starts openly weeping while trying to muster out. “That loathsome Nigel. Killed him.”

Silvia was dressed in her usual attire of silk shirt and trousers, but she had brought along her leather jerkin and her weapons as well, just in case. When Tehol mentioned K'rull, she started.
"The adorable K'rull is dead? No!" She put a hand on her heart. "And Nigel Thornheart killed him? But that's...surely there's some mistake. A hero wouldn't do that. I mean...isn't Thornheart meant to be the greatest hero of our age? He's such a legend I thought he couldn't possibly be real until I saw him in the tavern that day."

Herneiros was very confused. "Nigel Thornheart? I thought that man was supposed to be some sort of clown or bard, not... 'empire's greatest hero'."
All he knew of the man was that he sung dirty songs and made inappropriate comments that would have gotten him to the snozzwhangers if they had been heard in the Mist.
Then again, Herneiros was quite illiterate.

Thalia turned up, thinking the safari might be the fastest most efficient way of seeing the island abd anything that might be familiar.
“I would like to accompany you all” she said, already getting money out to pay, apparently pretty confident she could pay whatever the price was.

"It was him, he knocked me out then massacred my poor little K'rull when I was unconscious. He's a villain." Tehol claims weeping into a handkerchief.

Herneiros gave her a curious look. He had lived his entire waking life among elves and knew a half-breed when he saw one. "Certainly. We can commiserate on the boat together."

Silvia gasped as a dull feeling settled into her stomach. "I can't believe it! That's...mad." She frowned and toyed with the dagger at her belt in agitation. She had gone from being convinced Nigel Thornheart's books had been written by some ordinary person who had written about a larger than life character, to finding out the truth of his identity and wondering whether a lot of the content of the stories were true after all, to hearing these allegations of murder against a poor little animal who surely hadn't done anything wrong. But who was the real Nigel Thornheart?
She glanced at Thalia. They hadn't yet had the opportunity to speak, having sailed on different vessels, but she couldn't deny that the other woman had been on the same vessel as Tehol, K'rull and Thornheart.
"I am sorry for your loss, Tehol," she said. "I had hoped to get to know both of you better." She nodded to Thalia. "Yes, let's go. I don't want to think about such horrible things right now."

She didn’t know of Sylvia’s crush, but she would have been more than happy to break the illusion of Nigel for her, if she broached the subject.
She paid the dwarf and got ready to set off, she glanced at Herneiros, but dismissed it, not wanting to get too involved. “How was your experiences on the tranquility.”
