“Maybe you should have,” she said a bit breathlessly. “When you dispatched the pirates...your swordplay was excellent. If you had done it then, well, I don’t think I’d have let you run off after Thornheart again.” She laughed and put her other arm around his neck, letting their two bodies together keep the sheet in place around her. “I’m just grateful you don’t seem to mind my...my flaws.” His hands traced over her, “we are all flawed, in a way. We are all better when we are not alone.” He kissed her again, “and your swordsmanship was amazing to watch from where I was standing,” he chuckled suggestively.

She laughed again as her hands moved down from around his neck to start working on the buttons of his damp clothes. “I’m never alone. That’s my problem. But thanks all the same.”
She paused halfway down his shirt. “Do you really think we’ll really be able to give the Lockharts what they have coming? The treatments and the experiments in that place...” She shuddered are the very thought of it. “Some people really did need help, and treatment. Nobody is helped there.”

Lockhart was on the Imperial court’s last nerve even before I left to come here.” All we have to do is survive this harrowing adventure, he didn’t add, but shivered himself.

"Good. They have gotten away with too much for too long. Even when the inspections started, the worst just moved to the basements." She remembered a door opening out of nowhere and a woman with green hair, but the memory was only fleeting and out of context. Perhaps it was only a dream. With the Lockharts gone and her pardon...she smiled at him brightly and kissed his cheek. “I’m glad we met again, Konrad.”
She noticed him shivering. “Are you cold? You ought to dry off.”

Konrad nodded and stepped back removing the wet shirt with a single tug. Then working to pull off his boots, he tossed them in a corner. Then he paused for a moment, expecting her to turn around as he has done.

With a stifled giggle, Justine obediently turned and even covered her eyes. She was the type to peek though.

As swiftly as he was able Konrad pulled off the soaked clothing and wrapped himself in the sheet. He couldn’t deny it felt good to get out of the soaked clothing. Obviously he had spare dry clothes in his trunks on the Tranquility although that seemed miles and miles away at the moment, as he stood wrapped in a sheet in the middle of a brothel with a half naked -and very appealing- escaped mental patient.
Konrad my boy, what would your mother say?

She hazarded a peek, rewarded with a glimpse of smooth pale skin largely unmarred by hardship...save the wound he had earned himself earlier that day. She quickly turned back. She hadn’t exactly promised but it was bad form nonetheless. It was a little strange to her to be in this situation, with Konrad of all people, who she had never in a thousand years imagined to take the slightest bit of interest in her...and she herself was strange and unusual.
“Are you finished?” she asked when she no longer heard the shuffling of cloth and the thud of leather and clatter of weaponry on the floorboards. She turned back before he answered, sitting on the edge of the bed with a little bounce.

“Indeed I am,” he replied, “and I have to say I do not make this look quite so fashionable as you do,” he held his sheet awkwardly as he sat down beside her.

“I dont know if fashionable is the word of use, but I definitely don’t relish the thought of getting dressed again.” She colored a bit. “I mean because of the damp not...well, maybe that too.”
She took hold of his hand and held it in the space between them on the bed and just smiled at him for a quiet moment that felt like it had lasted far too long. “So, uh...are you going to kiss me again?”

“I don’t relish the thought of you getting dressed again either,” he said, before kissing her intently, and guiding her to lay back on the bed, as he continued.

Justine returned his kisses with equal ardor as they fell back upon the bed. As they revealed themselves fully to eachother and their bodies entwined, she could only laugh as she thought how little sleep they’d actually be getting.
