"A fire's too dangerous." She told Justine, shaking her head. "I don't know if they keep some chained up in there." Then to Konrad, "Yes, some help from the others would be appreciated. Even Nigel. But I don't think we need to worry about fighting the whole island. They don't mind a little violence, they just want to be able to get their members wet for coin. There might be a hiccup, but the service will still be provided, just willingly. As it stands, there's a mind-reader keeping them from even thinking about escaping."

Imagining anyone literally chained made Justine feel sick.
“Don’t get Thornheart involved. If he’s anywhere near women who don’t have a choice to tell him to knock it off, I don’t think I’d be able to hold myself back.” She fingered the hilt of her sword. “My sister...she’d like it even less I think.”
“I think we need to eliminate the psychic first off. Did you have something planned already?”

"I assume he won't come to the ship. So we have Kjell walk in the door and shoot him in the face. He does have a crocodile, but that's less of a worry."

Justine almost laughed. “We can get the good doctor to handle the crocodile!”

Nigel actually looked surprised as Justine managed to drag Konrad from his vice grip of comraderie. He had just been about to say that he was fairly certain the last bird Nigel and Konrad's father had introduced to the old Devil's Triangle, Max had gone off and married. He thought wistfully that must have been 20 or 30 years ago and wondered for a moment how old Konrad was...
As the bartender set the dark ale before him, he stared into it in a moment of silent self reflection. He hated being alone. No comrades in arms, no adoring fans, no reclaimettes. Just his thoughts; horrors faced, friends lost along the way (if he had any to begin with), mud, and blood, and death. He sipped his drink slowly, feeling like what he was, an old wreck with a shiny veneer that was fading with time.
Then he saw a pamphlet advertising a safari, downed his drink in a single quaff, and ran out of the tavern. Fuck wallowing, he was Nigel Thornheart! Adventure was out there!

"I assume he won't come to the ship. So we have Kjell walk in the door and shoot him in the face. He does have a crocodile, but that's less of a worry." Espionage: 129 Ceutinde saw a woman walk out as she talked to the noble and Justine’s twin personalities. She looked to be heading straight for Priscilla’s.

Ceutinde stared over Konrad's and Justine's heads, frowning at the sight of the woman leaving just after Nigel ran out. Normally it would be the other way around. "We're being watched. She's heading for the brothel. Doubt she could have heard us. But we should head somewhere more private."

“At least we didn’t waste a good plan,” Konrad said. “We may need to intercept her before she gets there, or our stay is liable to get considerably less idyllic.” He shrugged at Justine. “So much for a relaxing stay.”

"I think we did pass a lovely afternoon, at least," Justine answered, following the woman with her eyes. She loosed her sword in the scabbard again. "I agree we follow her. Maybe get some answers."

"What's she going to report back, that I went for a walk and ran into some people I know? We know where she's going, we know she probably didn't hear anything. Chasing her only makes us look more suspicious."

"But what if she DID hear?" Justine was a bit paranoid, perhaps, but it had always served her well before.

Ceutinde shrugged. "Then by all means, pursue, I suppose." She pointed to the woman moving away from them.

“No, you are right.” Konrad said. “If she knows, she knows, and we deal with it then.”

Justine took a long, deep breath as she watched the woman blend into the crowd and be gone from sight. She pushed her sword back into the scabbard decisively. "If you think it'll be alright, then I'll believe you. Either way...we should find a better place to talk than right here."
She looked around. "Back to the Tranquility?"

“That seems safest,” Konrad agreed.
