As Thalia crossed the deck to look at the beautiful and endless water (there wasn’t a ton of scenery), the young navigator Zavier was peering intently at his bauble, which had started gently humming. He seemed somewhat entranced by it, like he was having a conversation only he could hear. Thalia tried to tell if there was any magic coming off the bauble or if the navigator had just gone mad. “What is that?” She asked him.

She has no issue determining it’s heavily enchanted with a rather unfamiliar aura. He shook his head and blinked a few times. “Oh, uh, hello!” He said in his halting tone he used for strangers. “It’s a memory bowl,” he said. “Or something like that. The original name never made any sense to me. It helps lead us to where we need to go.”

Not one to waste a chance at a memorable first impression, Nigel loaded Little Nigel with one of his newly purchased glitter bombs and fired it at the approaching warship.

“How do you know that” she asked suspiciously, looking at the item, thinking it could easily be manipulated.

Damien walked up onto the main deck and looked around. He stretched his arms wide, and covered his mouth with his hands. He mussed up his hair as he walked to a the taffrail he leaned back and looked up at the rigging. He really did mean to climb up there one day. It looked like it would be a great deal of fun to swing about like a monkey. He ran his fingers along his impressive chin as he lost himself to a daydream.

“How do you know that” she asked suspiciously, looking at the item, thinking it could easily be manipulated. “Because,” Zavier said quietly, “my friend gave it to me. And it’s gotten us this far, hasn’t it?”

A little while later, Silvia emerged back on deck. Her hair was a little messy and she had forgotten her jaunty hat but she had her weapons at her side and she was grinning broadly as she strode towards Justine and Konrad.
"What did I miss? Has anyone looked into that matter of the scale yet?"

“By design I’m sure, who is your friend? Does the captain know you’ve been getting directions from a rock?” She queried, nothing on this voyage impressed her.

A little while later, Silvia emerged back on deck. Her hair was a little messy and she had forgotten her jaunty hat but she had her weapons at her side and she was grinning broadly as she strode towards Justine and Konrad. "What did I miss? Has anyone looked into that matter of the scale yet?" “We we’re waiting but didn’t want to interrupt,” Konrad said with a chuckle, “come let’s gather the Professor’s assistant and see what we can learn.” Unless sidetracked he entered the captain’s quarters with the small contingent and stood over the scale, once again dumbfounded by its size and beauty.

“By design I’m sure, who is your friend? Does the captain know you’ve been getting directions from a rock?” She queried, nothing on this voyage impressed her. Zavier shrugged and offered it to her. “You want to try it?” He asked in his placid tone. “I think you might be surprised.” // Demeter had the sailors bring the scale up, her specific comment indicating the unlikelihood of having “that professor” and such running around her room a thing unlikely to come to pass. Three men lay it on the deck in the sunlight and the reflection is so bright it nearly blinds Kjell if she looked at it momentarily. They put a shade up while someone fetched Sabrina.

This was the first time Justine has really gotten to see the thing in sunlight. Magnificent.
“Do you see the symbol again?” She asked Konrad, shielding her face from the light that flashed off of it.

"It's so beautiful," Silvia murmured. She was well-pleased with her day's activities so far and now she hoped to improve her day still further and learn something about the mysterious scale. She reached out and touched it, delicately.
"We should start thinking about the kind of questions to ask," she remarked to her companions.

As Silvia touched the scale, it began shimmering in a dazzling array of patterns. It is as though an entire circulatory system lived inside the scale and they could watch the blood flowing through the hard exterior. It grows stronger the harder she taps it.

Konrad looked to see if he saw further evidence of the Imperial family seal, that had led him to risk conversing with the serpent.

Thalia looked at the orb and tried to see if she could sense any impression from it, and what she knew of magical artefacts, “who is your friend?”
