Justine accepted Nigel’s hand and got to her feet, scowling at him. She started dusting herself off and checked that her weapons were still good. “You could have impaled me on my own sword,” she said testily. “And we could have gotten someone to investigate that stone.”
“We’re fine,” she called up to Kjell as she moved toward the staircase again.

“I would rather...impale you on mine,” he wheezed, holding up a single finger to catch his breath, before adding an “Aha!” with a wince.
“They are welcome to examine the pieces now that it is inert and not spewing mist. That seemed the most pressing threat.”

“I know you would.” Justine brushed as many shards into the cloth and wrapped it securely. “Good work, I suppose. With the boglops, I mean. Honored to have you at my back.” She bowed slightly, awkwardly, and then she went up the stairs for real. “Let’s see how everyone else is doing.”

Silvia hurried towards Herneiros. His magic had surprised her and she had felt a little bit sick when the boglops disintegrated, until she reminded herself that it was battle and they were fair game against any weapon, whether it was steel or sorcery. "I'm with you, wild man. There's some people about, though, so we'd best keep our eyes out in case they attempt to give us trouble. That spell of yours is damned. But where did Thornheart go? And Justine?" Silvia and the others outside see a brighter and brighter green light over the hill where the waterfall is at the north edge of town. It’s the same shade as the remaining houses with their Mist jewels. Zavier is holding his bauble and Silvia noticed it’s changed color from gold to a blackish charred hue.

Having heard the shout, Kjell looked to Ceutinde and gave her a thumbs up. Kjell’s new purse won’t win any fashion awards but it had a half dozen gold coins, a few pieces of silver, and a weird brass insignia with a boar’s head on it.

“With the view back here the honor is all mine,” he gave her ass a slap, much more tenderly than the last couple of times. They had enough bruise at the moment.
“Mighty Thornhearts all alive and accounted for?” he asked, as they rejoined the group. “All in all, a smashing first skirmish.”

Silvia was intrigued by the green light and was about to go and investigate when she noticed Zavier's bauble.
"What's wrong with that?" She asked. "Is it broken?"

The slap made her regret complimenting him. It was just like being in one of his books...but like he said, with a hell of a lot more bruises. It did make her move faster though, to get out of range.
“We’re not...ugh.” It wasn’t worth it to insist honestly. “Everyone good?”

Thalia saw the people fleeing and raised a hand, her eyes and hair glowing green as she tried to cause a landslide to pull them back down the hill. And ideally break a few bones.

Thalia: 156
The earth creaks and groans under the terramancy, and one of the fleeing people are caught in the rockslide and fall twenty feet or so, landing with a thud that’s very faint But definitely audible. Her scream of pain is much easier to hear.

Silvia was intrigued by the green light and was about to go and investigate when she noticed Zavier's bauble. "What's wrong with that?" She asked. "Is it broken?" Zavier nodded. “Whatever is disrupting this signal must be insanely strong,” he said. “I’ve never heard of it happening before. I guess it’s why Searshe isn’t doing this herself...” he frowned as he saw the green lights. “But if these guys can create Mist then they’re a whole new class of dangerous.”

Herneiros inspects the other houses and their intact jewels. Elise followed Herneiros into one of the now Mist-free houses. The jewel in this one is on a writing desk used by some long ago bookkeeper managing his money. The language is unfamiliar but the numbers are still the same. “Strong magic,” Elise muttered mostly to herself as she followed the barbarian hunter. Herneiros feels the jewel’s power from a few steps away. How it was made is quite beyond him.

Thalia heads over calmly, trying to keep an eye out for any subsequent potential ambushes. She clears the rubble off the path while it’s still a single spells so it will be easier for the party go forward in the future.
