The House of the Sun itself. The four minarets at the corners of the gigantic structure are themselves two hundred meters high, capped with bronze or gold, but are dwarfed by the temple itself. The ziggurat structures comprises four steppes, each at least ninety meters in height and starting at four hundred meters per side. No building before or since has ever been so massive. How and why it was constructed is a complete mystery.

After the battle, the adventurers at least reach the bridge leading to the great temple. It’s more than half a mile long, about three meters wide, and made of some strange metal that glows yellow in the sunlight. The woman earlier had told them an ambush awaited them on this long hike, but for now there’s no evidence of it.

Comte-in-Exile Damien Chevalier took a deep breath as he studied the bridge to the temple. He loved the smell of well protected wealth in the morning. He raised his hand to get a good sense of the wind. He croutched down then suddenly to get a different angle of the bridge. He started nodding knowingly and stroking his chin thoughtfully.

Damien noticed that the bridge seems to have no visible attachments to either end of the ground, nor does it have any pillars supporting it. Whatever it is made of is incredibly strong.

Herneiros gave an ugly look at the bridge.
"I do not like the look of this... too much exposure..."

Tehol looks over the edge of the cavern off to the side of the bridge. "Well you can always climb down and then climb back up. We can give you all the rope available to make a rope bridge if you'd like."

Herneiros frowned. "Hmm... this would not protect us from archers or lighting mages though... though our sole comfort is our enemy also needing the bridge..."
He looked up to judge what time of day it was.

"I've fought one of these things before," said Kjell, who'd presumably been brought up to date there were blade demons under the bridge. "If anyone has any magic to slow them down with, we could likely pick them off before they reached us." She looked to Team Wizard and Team Wizard Adjacent. "Wouldn't want them to reach us."

“What are their weaknesses, I could perhaps come up with something if I see them, but I need to know what element would work.” She said to Kjell, apparently fully participating in this part,

“None that I know of,” she replied. “Other than being slowed. Maybe try freezing it?

"I can weaken their defenses and temporarily drive them off, but I can't make them any slower... and it is still a pretty long bridge..."

“Hmm I can see what I can do, unless we want to deal with them on the way back, we would be wise to deal with them now? No?” She asked the two, not a master strategist but thinking dealing with problems now would best.

Herneiros nodded. "Definitely before we are loaded down with so much ancient treasure. What we need are eyes below the bridge..."
He scratched his beard before declaring, "This will but take me a moment."
Herneiros then walked a few feet away to the edge and prepared himself for the task. He selected an arrow, kissed it with a spell on his lips, nocked it back and drew it while aiming it carefully before finally firing it at a spot below the bridge.

Ceutinde was breathing a bit heavily by the time they reached the bridge. "If I may," She spoke up, "I'm starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel insofar as being able to keep you all in one piece. A few hours' rest would go a long way. If I run dry - as no doubt the other spellcasters are aware - it will take quite a lot longer to recover."

Kjell nodded when Ceutinde had spoken, as if that alone settled it, and picked out the most comfortable looking rock, dropping all her things by it. She sat on the rock, fished out a knife from her boot, took off her belt and began fashioning out of it a sling for her new rifle.
