Evening is falling as the Odyssey approaches al-Khial, the westward sun’s descent hiding their approach from over curious eyes. The captain calls the adventurers together to plan their landing.

Ten miles or so west of al-Khial, the captain with Zavier and Elise gather belowdeck around an impromptu table formed of boards placed between two barrels. A map of the nearly perfectly circular island is laid out. There aren’t many known features save gigantic spire-like mountains rising from the sea for nearly the entire circumference, Except for the lone river which forms a half mile wide delta at the very southern point. The House of the Sun sits in the dead center of the island about six miles in, apparently surrounded by a small lake.

Silvia sauntered into the meeting, humming the tune of 'Married to a Mermaid' as she did so.
"Good day to you all," she said. She smiled at the captain and Zavier but Elise merited only a nod. She sat at the table.
"Is this the part where I have to put my serious hat on?" She asked.

“At least you put something on, dearie,” Elise said in her poisonously sweet voice. The captain just rolled her eyes.
“Probably a wise idea,” Demeter said. “I’m not familiar with the tides here but I can drop you all off at the port or at an opening in these mountains. That warships docked in that abandoned village so we’ll have to make it quiet and it’ll probably be a fight, but I can use the ship’s cannons to help you blast your way through. If you do the mountains I think you’ll mostly be on your own.”

Justine came in a little after. She leaned in to look over the map, but stayed silent for the moment. She had little experience in things like strategy.

Kjell walked into the meeting at the same exact time as Silvia, albeit from a different direction, humming the tune of 'Keep Your Rifle By Your Side'. When she realized they both were humming something, she looked at the bard and stopped. Awkward.
She put her hands in her pockets and circled the table for a good view at the map, stopping to stand at a favourable spot once found.

Silvia mimed putting on an invisible hat. She had decided to behave as if Elise was not present.
"I think we'll need to hear from people like Thornheart and the King of Thieves," she suggested. "They'll both have experience in planning expeditions, and different kinds of activities too. I expect Thornheart will want to go in all guns blazing. That approach is more glorious, but I'm not sure that it's the sensible option. I like a fight as much as the next woman" she winked at Justine as she spoke "but perhaps we ought not to draw attention to ourselves before we must."

“The thief can have an opinion when that warship is sunk, the beachhead is taken, the walls are breached, the monster slain, and we have reached the vault!,” Nigel declares, already clad in his finest battle regalia. “Until then you are in the capable hands of the finest imperial marine to ever serve our glorious emperor! Demeter and Elise, enjoy the pleasant sense of deja vu.”

Silvia smirked as her assessment of Nigel's plan was proved correct.
"We still need a proper plan," she insisted. "We need to talk about the logistics and things like that. We're adventurers, not soldiers."

As they deliberated, the captain moved the ship to the west side of the island, where the sharp jagged peaks would hide their approach. The adventurers could see a small beach about sixty or seventy meters across. “This is your chance if you’re going through the mountains,” the captain said.

"The mountains are probably the best option," Silvia said. "I know I love being the centre of attention but that shouldn't be our goal for this mission."

Not surprisingly, Nigel disagreed vehemently.
"Dealing with that warship is our first priority," he argued. "Breaching the fortification on the island requires artillery, which we're not getting over the mountains. And extraction with our prize will be impossible with that brute sitting in the harbor."

Silvia definitely wasn't surprised, after all, she'd been convinced Nigel would want to go storming in.
"So how about a diversion then? If you lead an assault, a few of us could sneak in from the mountains, perhaps open the gates for the rest. I'm not saying we should try for a bloodless victory, or even that we'll get in and out without any trouble, but there are more ways to get what we want than by smashing it to pieces."

Nigel seemed genuinely perplexed Silvia had specifically asked for his input due to his experience in conducting expeditions only to contradict his input.
“And leave the assault team short handed for dealing with the warship? Nigel Thornheart does not believe in half assing two things when he can full ass one. We deal with that warship and provide the Odyssey safe harbor to offer supply lines for the remainder of the expedition.”

"We do have an entire ship full of sailors to help fight the enemy warship," she pointed out. "They've presumably got more experience of naval combat than most of us." She looked around the group. "But we should see what the rest of the party thinks, anyway."
