"Do we have any idea how many crew they have on board?" Ceutinde piped up from the back. "How outnumbered are we?"

Demeter puffed her pipe. “Fully manned it could have thrice our numbers, but that’s unlikely. It had to dock footy forward so I’ll cross its T and blow it out of the water before she can turn.”

Silvia looked all around the room. "What does everyone else want to do?"

"That's the spirit!" Nigel commended Demeter. "Sink the bitch, secure safe harbor, and move on to the next stage of completing this expedition without worries about having it at our backs."
"This isn't a democracy," he barked, his time in the imperial marines bleeding through. "Captain Demeter was placed by our employer in charge of getting us to the island. My purview is getting us from the beach to the temple. We'll be taking the direct route. If you lot are sent running with tails between your legs at the first hostile warship, what are you going to do when we find the beast guarding the vault?"

Silvia rolled her eyes. In her experience, charging headlong at the enemy wasn't always the most practical option, but there was clearly no point telling a soldier that, and she she was in no mood to argue the point. She made a lewd gesture underneath the table and looked for something to drink.

Justine finally spoke up. "We aren't running scared, Mr Thornheart. We are conserving resources. There's no reason to put ourselves at more risk or to waste our energy fighting men on a warship when we could just sail around and get in another way. Moving unseen is better than running headfirst into a fight." She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him with a little annoyance.

“Much like a married paramour’s husband, better to remove the threat preemptively rather than give him the chance to catch you with your breeches down,” Nigel replied, having no desire to get trapped between a hostile warship and whatever awaited them in the temple. “We don’t know what awaits us ashore and I would prefer the Odyssey docked and at our back.”

Killing everyone was as good a solution as any, and if Archelaus or some of his henchmen happened to be on board, all the better. Kjell was a hired gun not a strategist. Besides, she'd known going into this that this was not going to be a democracy (whatever that was). "Where do you want me, on the assault team or up in the nest?" she asked Nigel.

"I'm not really fit for such type of open combat, as you may have already realized..." Archie interject, not really believing that anyone would expect him to actually fight. "But I can provide you with the needed brews to aid the assault. Thornheart had a taste of my Steadfast Elixir when we faced the Shrimp, and he can vouch for their effectiveness."
"You will also probably need some Healing Potions, I can provide that too, of course." The old man smiled, feeling glad he could be of help. "And I might have another Flubber somewhere in my suitcase, that should be of some use."
"Turn someone into a bird, and have him or her drop the Flubber from above."

Kjell looked from one adventurer to another, and seeing as no one offered an explanation, asked, "The fuck's a Flubber?"

"Let's hope you don't have to find out, dear..." Archie said grimly. He wasn't really happy about what happened the last time around. "But yes, I say we stick to the assault. The fewer War Crimes we commit, the better "

Sabrina was packing all of Archimedes potions into insulated containers so they didn’t accidentally break. “Maybe we should try the polymorph next time,” she said cheerily as though they were going on a lark rather than an amphibious assault. “It can’t go worse than last time after all!”

"Big blob. Destroyed an inn full of pirates." Ceutinde told Kjell in a low voice. "Saved the day, really."

"The Polymorph potion could lend a hand in both a stealth mission or a direct assault." Archie nodded at his assistant. "If it is actually needed, I could take the front lines with Thornheart in the shape of a giant ape or something, and help hold the line... Though I reinforce that I would rather stay back, and save my energy for when my skills are more appropriate."

Kjell raised an eyebrow at the old man's non-response and shot Ceutinde a puzzled glance at the explanation, but didn't bother further pursuing it. 'Can't go worse than last time' sounded really reassuring.
