The headquarters of not just the clergy of Basiton but also its considerable holy warrior retinue. The temple is broad rather than tall and has many entrances for worshipers to attend services.

Nigel visited Mistbreak Temple, for once respectfully doing away with his usual flashy entrance and entering with the paladin greatsword in hand.

He looks quite odd with his holy sword but he makes it to the upper yard where the paladins train. An old Acquaintance named Sir Basil of Edysse. The elder paladin is in charge of all issues related to the Order in Bastion. He is practicing archery when Nigel arrives. “Sir Nigel! Blessings on you! How have you been? Finally repented of your iniquities and turned a new leaf?”

"Once my inequities stop selling books, perhaps we can discuss that new leaf," he replied amiably, holding the sword out hilt first for the paladin's examination. "I am doing well, fresh from another adventure. My party chanced upon this beauty while exploring. I was hoping you could tell me a bit about it and help it find a worthy home."

Sir Basil raised it and inspected the blade. "Mythan's name, where did you find this?" he asked. "It's an Inquisitor blade. There's aren't four of these left in the known world and you come strolling in with one? Shoul I be expecting some angry gentleman to come striding in like that time you spent the night with the Lady De Vrere?""

"You have my oath that no paladins were harmed in its discovery," Nigel placed a hand over his heart as he made the vow. "And if Lord De Vrere had spent half the time honing his cocksmanship as he did his swordsmanship, we all could have avoided that unfortunate chapter."
Nigel inspected the blade with newfound interest, seeing the opportunity for more than a simple payday. "I had thought to sell the blade to one of the wealthier members of your order, but I had no idea what a rare piece it was. Why, the emperor himself may be interested in such a weapon. What would you counsel, Sir Basil?"

The paladin general stared at the blade a moment. "The Emperor?" He stared at the blade. "I'm sure he could find a use for it. No one in our order could afford it." He leveled a gaze at him. "Makes me wonder what price you put on priceless."

"If you keep talking like that, you're going to put a dent in my codpiece," Nigel said, jovially, considering the matter. "I will ride for the capital after I have settled my affairs in the city and see what price our glorious emperor puts on the priceless."

Sir Basil chuckled. "Well, stay away from the Sisters today," he said. "I don't need anymore priests asking me when I'm going to deal with unwanted pregnancies. But His Majesty will certainly enjoy seeing you again. He'll be asking for that book though. You know he hates disappointment."

"Put a sword in their hands and swell your ranks. With an army of my bastards, you lot will be beating down the gates of hell in short order," he clapped Sir Basil on the shoulder. "I'll finish the first draft on my travels. I write better on the road as it is. His Grace will get the first draft before my editor lays eyes on it."

The older paladin just chuckled. "Thatmight make the payment bigger. Just be careful. One of your old book covers is in Edysse right now. I sort of doubt she has forgotten. Check every ceiling for her hanging upside down before entering a room and make sure there's no brooms around when you have your audience."

"Madeia?" Nigel asked, with a shudder. "How no one has managed to pierce her black heart and send her screaming to the hells she serves is beyond me." He paused, before adding, "That lass could really fill out a breastplate though."

“Still does,” Basil admitted shortly. “Watch your back is all, the capital changes every damned day based on who has figured out what His Majesty finds most appealing that day.”

"Well on that particular day it will be a new blade and a tale of adventure," Nigel said, with confidence, turning to depart. "Keep your sword army strong, Sir Basil. Someone must defend Bastion in the absence of the Adventurer Extraordinaire."

“Someone always will, old man,” the paladin said. “Mythan be with you.”
