She had meant the plural you, but magicians often fought themselves for position, so she heard, another way in which Lisandre was superior. “What is your theory,” Thalia asked them, as she started to look at the book, glad the NPCs had done all the work off screen rendering her use near redundant. “What is it you think I can do to help?”

Test Number One:
“So,” Theros said, “our working theory is this is some sort of really powerful stasis chamber holding some sort of alien entity. If that’s true it should have some sort of reaction to your particular brand of elementalism. All the magic we’ve detected is focused inward so we think any hazardous reactions are unlikely.”

“Well I did try to investigate it in the boat and it did not seem to react” Thalia admitted to her, but nodded, “but I am happy to give it a try, do you want a particular element? Or multiple?”

Elinor nodded understanding. “We’ve got spells in place to enhance the strength of what we do in this lab. In here you’re functionally a lesser deity for a short period of time. It’ll let us know if we’re in the right track. I have no idea what combination to use so...I guess that’s on you.”

Thalia nodded, and asked them to step back a little as she decided to try blending the two most abundant things on the surface, air and water, if the alien was in stasis from the planets elements, then concentrating this might make it react. She didn’t think it was anything extra terrestrial though.

Thalia feels like she’s a part of the strange artifact for a moment, and everyone gasped as she made a storm inside the orb, rain drizzling on its branches and shaking its strange leaves.

Thalia opened her eyes and looked, “I hope it’s not a small civilisation in there, or they’re a bit wet now,” she commented, “does this confirm anything for you?”

The faculty all looked at each other. “That wasn’t what we expected,” Elinor admitted. “But it means...something,” she sort of concluded. “If nothing else it means that this orb is built to work with our styles of magic. I’m glad you didn’t try fire,” she added.

“Yes, or I’d have burnt the tree,” she pointed out, looking at her handy work, and glancing closely into it, to see if the after affects if the storm had changed anything inside if it,

Inside the orb she sees the rain and wind are now continuously swirling, having replaced the snow. It’s a gentle storm but an apparently persistent one.

Thalia frowned and tried to use her abilities to freeze it and make it return it to snow, not wanting to permanently change anything about it until they learnt more.

The rain freezes into a hail but the beautiful fluffy snow is gone. The tree seems unfazed one way or another.

“Oops” she said and frowned, unnerved tat she couldn’t fix what she had done. She put a hand on it to see if the feel of the magic had altered.

The magic itself hasn’t changed. Whatever she is doing is impacting only the interior.

Thalia looked at the others and nodded, “has anyone else tried their kind of magic on it?”
