Searshe just chuckled in her draconic gurgle. “Pretty much straight down,” she admitted, the she spread her wings and basically walked off the ledge. They descend in a long looping circle around the whole island, and in about thirty seconds of wind rushing terror they land on a huge rock outcropping that leads to a tidal cave. Searshe then clambers up a sheer rock wall and Kjell sees a treasure hoard like she never imagined would have existed. It’s surprisingly orderly, not a pile like in a novel but a well organized and sort and catalogued sort of museum. She sees Zavier oiling a couple swords down as he whistled to himself. “I’ve killed them,” she said. “They have varying connections to the Most. The ones like the Kraken are less saturated with its power and are thus mortal in theory. The ones in the interior of the continent in general are much stronger.” She walked past weapons and armor and all sorts of things until she came to a purplish obsidian rod capped with a fire opal the size of Kjell’s fist. “This isn’t exactly what you were probably thinking of,” she admitted, “and I have more traditional weapons, but if you want a chance at truly killing the Mistlords you’ll need...more. You need giants. This,” she smirked, back in her elf form, “this was gifted to me by a king long dead. If you take it to the fire giants, they will do whatever you ask.”

Once they'd landed, all the muscles in Kjell's arms and legs were cramped from clinging on to Searshe during the flight and she leapt off the dragon gladly. She looked at the rod and its opal and it took her a moment to filter a "What the fuck is this?" down to a "What does it do?", which she then asked out loud. "What's it to the giants?"

Searshe was silent a moment. “It’s called the Heart of Magma. It allows them to reactivate dormant volcanos and it’s wielder can command creatures of flame like you’ve never imagined. What better way to prepare calamari than over a burning satanic log, hm? But for your purposes, that rod gives you an army.”

It was evident from Kjell’s somewhat confused expression that her brain was computing. “Where can I find them?” she asked. “And... this wouldn’t be just swapping one evil for another?” People could live inside the Mist. Mordor and Mustafar, not so much.

“They live about a hundred miles northeast of your gates,” she said. “In a mountain range. They hate the Mist as much as you do. You at least have the option of leaving it from time to time. They haven’t seen a clear sky in eight hundred years. And they were never evil. A bit territorial perhaps.” She shrugged in the jerky motion she had as a biped. “It’s not without risk, I suppose. You’ve seen them though, have you not? Dozens of times your size, able to shrug off the mightiest blows. You need more than an axe or a gun to hit back.”

Kjell assumed Seahorse had meant Bastion by ‘your gates’. “Is there no other way?” she asked.

“I did tell that friend of yours that I would help him kill one,” she said. “Physically I mean, not like indirect aid.” She set the rod down then walked over a dozen feet or so and picked up a pair of gloves. “I suppose if you want a more direct form of assistance I can offer these. They’re called Mistbane Gauntlets. They pierce the shields that protect the more powerful of the Mistlings.”

“Oh? Which one did he ask your help with?” Kjell inquired, inspecting the gloves. “I don’t know if I want to try punching the White Tree to death.”

“None of them,” she answered. “I volunteered. My apologies. Those gloves will enchant whatever weapon you wield with the same ability. Your bullets will be infused with whatever magic the creator discovered that pierces their shields.”

“And they’ll let me harm a greater Mistlord?” she asked, looking from the gloves to Searshe.

The emerald elf nodded. “It still a truly staggering amount of damage to kill them but yes, they will feel every blow without the protection they usually enjoy.”

Kjell smiled slowly, kind of like that was the best thing she’d heard maybe ever. “Then I think that’s my reward,” she said.

Searshe shrugged and handed her the gloves. “Godspeed,” she said. “You’re hunting the Maentwrog, no?” She said. “Killing its outside isn’t enough. The real heart of the demon is where its roots are. I don’t envy you the task.”

“Thank you,” said Kjell as she accepted the gloves, and nodded at the question. “You don’t happen to have a shovel lying around here somewhere, do you?” she asked with half a smirk, looking around the hoard. That information was very useful though.

She looked at her then shrugged. “You can ask Zavier. I honestly have no idea. What do you need a shovel for? Digging the roots?” Clearly humor was somewhat foreign to her.
