She nodded. “Forced my hand,@ she joked as she ordered. Elizabeth took a few minutes to measure her and then they were ready to move. “So what’s the plan?” She said. The man had vanished from sight but he presumably was simply hiding for now. “I’ll go right you go left?”

"Agreed. Let's wander around some shops and meet back at Anselmo's in...an hour? We can compare notes from there."

Jenna nodded. “Be safe,” she said. She looked both ways then strode off to the right. The streets are full of vendors and other assorted performers and so it’s busy but not so crowded that movement is impaired. It’d be a pickpocket’s dream.

Silvia walked around town, stopping to browse in her favourite shops, and chat to acquaintances. She kept an eye out for the man to see if he was following her. An hour later, she arrived back at Anselmo's.

Silvia saw the man follow her for a few minutes but after two more stops he was gone. When she returned Jenna was sitting there red-faced. “Oh thank Mythan,” she said. “I saw him follow you but right as I was coming back a few of them tried to chase me. I’m not exactly dressed for battle,” she admitted. “Any idea who they could be? Made any enemies recently?”

"Well..." She thought about the men she had stumbled into in her guise of Johanna. "There's someone who might consider me a threat, but they shouldn't have been able to find me so quickly."
She had other enemies too, old enemies from past thefts, but she couldn't afford to dwell on incidents from a year ago, or longer.
"All bards have enemies, and adventurers too. You get used to it. I bet paladins have enemies too."

Jenna frowned. “I suppose so,” she said. “We’ll have to keep an eye out. Could th we have some way of finding you other than simply following you? She looked abo it. “That seems a lot of effort day in and day out.”

"Yes. I'll be extra careful from now on, but some of my enemies would surely have struck already, if they meant to kill me. Maybe all they want is to watch me, for now. I suppose I could pay someone to keep a look out. There's plenty of people in this city who will be desperate for a few coins. What do you thing, Jenna? Do you think the man seemed dangerous?"

“I think any man who is willing to put that much effort into stalking you is dangerous, or representing someone who is,” Jenna said. “They’re onto me now too so I guess we need to find out what they want.” She tossed her hair back. “Or maybe he just wants an autograph,” she joked.

"I wish it was that simple. If that's what he wanted, he'd have approached me by now. He didn't try to hide, not really. He wanted me to know he was there. Perhaps intimidation is a part of it." She tossed her head. "Well, I shall not be intimidated. I am the Skylark of Bastion and I will not cower. Don't worry about it, Jenna, honestly. It's not worth the effort."

Jenna gave her a hug. “All right,” she said. “You’ve made it this far after all. Don’t hesitate to ask for help though. I’ll kick in doors and beat some perverts’ asses on the drop of a coin.”

I'll remember that. Are you staying in the city after your friend's wedding?" She asked the question somewhat hopefully. "I'm travelling to Edysse soon but I'd love to spend time with you until then."

“I’m not on orders so I’ll be doing what I want for a few months,” she said. “I’ll travel with you if you need company. You sounds like you attract adventure and I could use some field experience.”

"Of course, we both could. My recent excursion was different to my usual adventures, and I hope to do more of that sort of thing soon but I've been focusing on city business for the moment. I'm not sure when I'm going to Edysse, exactly. It depends on Thornheart, since we're travelling together. I'd invite you along but only if you promise not to be taken in my his charm. I told him you'd eat him for breakfast, and he liked that."

“That’s because one typically eats sausage for breakfast, my dear,” Jenna pointed out. “But I’ve met him before. Like I said...not my type. Maybe twenty years ago. Hell, maybe ten.” She shook her head. “Anything else going on? Sounds like you’re busy as hell.”
