"Yes, it's good to have a change of scene now and then." Lowering her voice, she added "I'd hate to stay indoors all day." After looking around she remarked "We're obviously the most attractive guests today." She toyed with her necklace and continued to watch the men.

Robert sneaks a few glances their way but is mostly patiently weathering the storm of Distennian’s displeasure. The women’s drinks arrive as the merchant finally runs out of gas and mumbles, “All right know-it-all, what would you do if you were in my shoes.” Robert glanced both ways and leaned in and whispered something. Gregori had an annoyed look.
“And who would do that?” He whined. “It’s been hard enough dealing with the damned barristers. Where would I find-“ Robert pointed a finger and he shit up then muttered some nonsense and took a drink.
“You own a damned gold mine,” Robert said. “Stop pretending you’re some small tome fruit stand vendor. I guarantee no one in here would stand for such slander from a bunch of prostitutes. You don’t stay on top by letting the bottom decide where you go,” he added. “The head controls the legs. Now relax and try to enjoy yourself. Say hello to the ladies near us or something.” Gregori shrugged then spoke to a server who vanished and came back with a very expensive bottle of sparkling for Silvia and Ceutinde.
“This is on the gentleman over there,” she said as she popped the cork.

"Don't stare too much." Ceutinde said in a low voice to Silvia when she noticed the bard watching them. "You don't want to look too interested. Keep it to the occasional flirty glance."
Ceutinde giggled and waved to the gentlemen when the ersatz Champagne arrived. "Why, thank you, boys! Anything in particular we should be drinking to?"

"He won't be showing off soon," Silvia whispered. In a normal tone of voice, she suggested. "Let's toast to beauty." She glanced away from the two men and looked around the fancy restaurant instead.

Anselmo’s has a few more women drinking and some nobles eating and flirting. It’s not an altogether busy time. Gregori raises his glass. “Then you’re toasting yourselves,” he said, making a slightly forced attempt at good humor. Robert looked into his cup a second before raising his own. “I’m Gregori,” he said. “And who are you fine ladies?”

Ceutinde didn't let it show that she was miffed at not being recognized, and answered with a smile. "Ceutinde. From the House of Peace and Respite." She held a hand out toward Silvia. "And this is a dear friend from Valgard, Roxanne. She's only in town for a few nights, so we're painting the town red."

“Crossed the fields of gold, then,” Gregori said. “Ah, I apologize m’lady, I’ve never been to your establishment. If your employees look anything like the lovely lady Roxanne, though, I suppose I should have. Business just gets in the way. Drinks are on me to repay the insult. Your service to the city is well known.” Robert seemed faintly amused and he went to Ceutinde to kiss her hand.
“A pleasure seeing you again, my dear.” He offered a flourish to Roxanne. “And nice to meet you Roxanne. I’m Robert.”

"Sir." Silvia smiled coyly at Robert and toyed with her necklace in a deliberately coquettish fashion. "I am honoured to meet you, and your friend as well."
She spoke in a higher pitch than her natural voice, to disguise her voice from Robert.
"I fear I know nothing of business matters. I cannot imagine the effort it takes. I'm so thankful that I was born wealthy."

Ceutinde kept her eyes on Gregori as she held out her hand to Robert. "Think nothing of it, sir. I try to stay out of the limelight. But you're always more than welcome. In fact, I insist, you really ought to stop by some night."
"She's not exagerrating. Useless with money matters. A wonder she isn't in rags already."

Gregori locked eyes with Ceutinde just for a second. “I suppose I shall then,” he said. “All the gold goes to a good cause in the end, right?” He had a strange look in his eyes, like he had smelled something slightly off putting. “I never guessed what I was missing. I’ve spent too much time in the West, I suppose. Thing seem simpler out there somehow. Fewer politics to get mired in.”
Robert leaned in. “Now my dear Roxanne, you don’t need any business sense to be rich. Look at my friend here,” he jested. “A Valgard girl, not often you come up this way. I assume you make up for the lack of interest in money with more beneficial interests. We businesspeople can be a damned plague I think.”

"Oh hardly," Silvia said, leaning into her adopted persona of a wealthy airhead. "If there weren't businessmen, there would be no shops and that would be tragic. I love shopping, it's my favourite thing in the world. But oh, are we keeping you fine gentlemen from your dinner? I would hate for you to go hungry, sir."

“Conversation is better sustenance,” Robert said as he waved the idea of eating off. “You have certainly come to a better place to shop than Valgard I promise. I’m glad someone appreciates what we ring to society. My poor friend here is being viciously slandered by those less fortunate in an effort to extort him.” Gregori nodded in agreement.
“You know how the poor get when they see us better off folk.”

Ceutinde put on her best shocked face. "Simply dreadful. Who would do such a thing?"

"Yes, that is a shame. But I'm not surprised. Envy is a terrible thing." Silvia smiled sympathetically at Gregori. "The poor like to see their betters suffer. It's cheaper than theatre and the grief is real. But I'm sure two such fine gentlemen will know how to deal with such scum."

Gregori nodded. “Always an idea,” he said. He turned to Ceutinde. “But the current ones give me some pause. Some poor wretches who claim to have been rescued from pirates...it’s a ludicrous tale.” He shook his head. “But apologies. Lady Roxanne should see the best sides of Bastion and we have such lovely company and I’m whining like a bored vintner. Have you been to Old Rhianne’s?” He asked. Ceutinde has heard whispers of it but never actually confirmed its existence. “It’s sort of a private club.”
Robert seemed content to admire the ladies silently. His eyes occasionally wandered off however like he expected to have spies watching him.
