Silvia heard the guards passing outside as Justine descended, talking about whatever was on their mind. Justine made it quickly to the strange floor which she identifies as soot as it covers her boots and puffs up into little clouds as it’s touched. It doesn’t take long to identify the source of the strange material as she sees this ladder is the rear entrance to a larger chamber.
Inside the room which opens up only nine or ten feet away she sees the walls are caked with salt and crumbly iron ore and silver and even some herbs she doesn’t have time to identify. In the center of the room on a small basin sits a necklace glowing the strange teal like hue.

Silvia quickly followed behind Justine. She took a closer look at the trapdoor to see if there was a way to secure it from inside, so nobody could follow them.

It looks like the trapdoor is specifically built to make it obvious if anyone has used it; there’s a small securing mechanism but the troll outside will still alert anyone to its disturbance instantly.

Silvia decided to take the chance, because she didn't want to bar their entrance if it was the only way out. She followed Justine.

The trapdoor closed and Silvia and Justine are in the short hallway. They hear footsteps above and in front of them as servants move their way around. Creeping up they see the other entrance to this cellar must be in one of the other outbuildings. There’s clearly not enough room taken up here to account for the entire house so there’s probably a less cultish cellar on the other side of the wall.

Silvia crept up beside Justine. "What next?" She looked at the glowing necklace, thinking about how many mouths it could feed. But no, she had dabbled with dangerous, glowing items before, it seemed a bad idea to touch the thing.

Justine peered over the necklace. Studying the shape of whatever pendant or jewel it may hold.

The necklace flickers more rapidly as they approach. It has a nice woman engraved on it covered only by a strategically placed pair of moth wings. “Check the kitchen for the wheat!” They heard a woman say from somewhere above. “That bread won’t make itself!”

Justine stares at the necklace a moment and then checks to see if there are any other openings or if this and the necklace are a dead end.
She felt compelled to tough the thing and it took up space in the back of her mind as she looked.

There’s a tunnel to her left that looks like it would connect to one of the other buildings. Otherwise it’s just soot and walls and salt and the strange necklace.

She glanced back at Silvia. “Do we go deeper or head back? I wouldn’t like to get trapped down here. Or have someone come behind us...”

"It's your decision," Silvia said. "Do you think there's more to learn? Not being fully acquainted with your family's past, I'm in no position to comment. I'll go further if you'd like to."

Justine nodded resolutely. “Let’s press on, before I take that necklace. Who knows, we might really be in trouble after that. The smell here makes me think there might be another opening somewhere else.” She turned and began going down the other hallways.

The next hallway goes for about thirty feet before cutting sharply to the right. There’s no light once it turns, no torches or glowing magical necklaces to provide any illumination. They are outside the boundaries of the house as they can tell by the sudden lack of movement from above. The charcoal like ground turns into a more natural damp rocky foundation and moisture from the nearby sea seeps in on places. It’s held up by some wooden beams curved for support and if they got knocked out there’d be a hell of a mess.

"Now what?" Silvia whispered. "I feel like we're going to end up in some kind of cave."
