Elise chuckled. “Anyone who lets Thornheart tel their story wants to be a casualty in their own life,” she said. “We’ve made bets on the duration of his partners’ lifespans. No one has ever taken more than a month.” She turned back to Silvia. “But I planned on writing a song as well...so I suppose this means war,” she concluded with a red lipped smile. Silvia flashed a devil-may-care smile at Elise but her eyes glittered with anger. "Perhaps, if by war you mean that you'll write a song that sounds like a cat being murdered."

Elise’s eyes widened at the burst of anger but she recovered after a moment. “Well, in fairness, if Nigel is in charge that is the likely result for all of us, so perhaps it’s appropriate. At least we can rest easy that you’ll perform the song better once you’ve gotten your greedy little mitts on it. I’ve heard you’re the Comte Chevalier of music.”

Silva did her best to look hurt. "Why, Elise, one ought not to sling mud when one's own face is smeared with the stuff," she said, keeping her voice even, and a brittle smile on her face. "I shan't forget what you did to me before. Perhaps one day there shall be a song about that little misadventure."
She stood and sauntered away.

"The Tranquility. I couldn't tell you which pier, but she should be easy enough to find. I've got a hotel for the night, but I'll be on board...well, let's not say first thing, but by a civilized hour in the morning." Ceuntinde blew him a kiss. "See you then." Konrad acted honored to receive the blown kiss and bowed. "until the morrow," he said, as he pivoted slightly and made for the door. As he did he tried to wrack his brain for words that rhymed with "morrow" to perhaps quote the elf maiden a pithy line. But he could only come up with "sorrow", which seemed a rather ominous start.

“A fine life’s pursuit” she commented, and nodded in approval at the old man, she meant the study and alchemy not the tea, she didn’t much care for tea.

Silvia strode over to Ceutinde and smiled at her. "I hear you have some spare berths on your vessel. Perhaps I might sail with you?"

Ceutinde lit up as the bard approached. "Certainly, Silvia! So long as you promise to make a little music on the way. Nothing better than that voice and a sea breeze. And I'm so sorry for not saying hello last night - it was a rather odd evening."

Kjell briefly looked after this Konrad after he left, but seemed to think nothing of the interruption. "Just Kjell," she said, turning back to Ceutinde and her earlier question. When another member of the expedition strode up to request a spot on her ship, however, Kjell took it as her cue to rise. "I did not realise an alternative to travelling with the jester would be in that high a demand. Though perhaps I should have," she added to Ceutinde in Elvish, nodding at Nigel and offering the other elven woman half a smile. She picked up her rifle and hung it over her shoulder. "Perhaps some other time, then."
As she stepped away from her seat, she nodded to the countess.

Silvia smiled politely at the elven woman she hadn't yet spoken to.
"It's fine," she said to Ceutinde. It was certainly a strange evening." She thought about how her beliefs regarding the identity of Nigel Thornheart had been blown to pieces in a shower of glitter, about the people she had met that night and the story she had learned on the ramparts. "I look forward to joining your ship. I have had little experience with the sea, I must confess, but every new experience is an adventure."

"A pleasure, Kjell," Ceutinde replied as the other elf rose, switching to Elvish, "Find the ship in the morning, I'll make sure the crew knows you're coming. I look forward to getting to know you on the trip."
Then turning back to Silvia and back to Imperial, "Indeed, 'tis always a way to learn. Though one hopes you don't learn you get seasick."

She half-turned and opened her mouth to say something, possibly to clarify that she would rather not help cramp up the smaller ship, but decided against it, instead just nodding to the two in farewell and making her way out of the room.

"Oh, I shall be too busy having fun to become seasick," Silvia replied. "If not, I can always spend the voyage dosed with laudanum." She grinned to show that she was joking. "I shall have my belongings brought to the ship as soon as I can."

"We do have a considerable inlay of laudanum if you would like," Ceutinde replied, "Medically I wouldn't recommend too much, but a hit here or there makes for a lovely evening."

"I could do with a vial or two, just in case," Silvia said. "Freeing one's mind from the mundane is a wonderful way to unleash the muse. I once wrote a rather lovely song after having a wonderful dream about a mystical land filled with beautiful gardens, fair maids and music, but a damned fool woke me from a laudanum-induced sleep and I forgot most of the dream upon waking. Alas, that particular song should have been an epic but it is merely a fragment."

“Many have tried, Justine de Vair, and they’re all dead,” he proclaimed, striking another heroic pose as china crunches under his boots. “Accept no imitations! Only the original will do!” He leapt off the table, wrapped his arm around Justine’s back and motioned in the distance, as if he could see some grand horizon through the wall. “Adventure is our there and you can’t have an adventure without the the Adventuer Extraordinaire! Now how about you and I go start this fellowship right and make sure the market isn’t the only thing saturated tonight. Aha!” As much as she admired the hero of her adolescent fantasies, she had also just seen him willfully destroy a poor old man’s prized possession and make a pass at literally every woman in the room. “Let’s begin adventuring with everyone else tomorrow. I’m sure you’ll have many unpublished tales to share, I truly cannot wait to hear them.” With that, she spun out of his grasp. “Besides, it’s very rude to abandon the person that brought you. Tata for now,” she added, blowing a kiss as she returned to Ceutinde’s side.
