The painter smiled. “Of course. Have you found suitable lodging in our not-so-fair city?”
As he spoke, everyone in the tavern heard a low rumbling sound coming from a good distance away, certainly beyond the walls that the tavern ly at the base of.it is the full roar of stones grinding together or perhaps some strange growl. Nikos and the bartender take no notice of it.

"Tehol, my boy! The stars align I our favour and destiny led this little creature to bring me to you. Remarkable!" Archie threw his hands in the air in celebration for having found the man he sought. "You are just the person I came here to find! "I was a close friend to your mother. A most explendid woman, with a... Fantastic imagination." He opted for this description rather than 'a compulsive liar, with a penchant for embelishing her family's history'. "You might not remember this wrinkly old mug, but we met a long time ago. You must have been no bigger than little K'rull over there." He turned his head upside down to take a look at the creature below the chair. "Hello, K'rull. Nice to meet you." K’rull being ever a gentleman, looks up from his beverage and burps in the man face. Tehol on the other hand scratches his chin through his beard, “I don’t know about fate bringing you here Mister, K’rull just likes his ale and wouldn’t stop badgering me until I gave him the coins to get himself one.” He says fairly obliviously.

“My apologies, the way you...Nevermind.” Justine shook her head, determined not to let herself be flustered. She thought for a moment. “Here and there. My partner and I go where we are needed. A long time ago, when I was very young, I lived in the capitol. Have you always lived in Bastion?” "I've been in Bastion some years now, but not always. The woods before that, in happier times. Not that I dislike the city but, well...that was before I lost someone." A finger tapped nervously against her glass. "But that's plenty about me. You and your partner - what kind of work are you in? Other than barroom flirtation."

"Yes, of course I have. That was the first thing I did when I arrived. Finding somewhere to drink was my next priority. I find that a tavern is a good sort of place to learn about a city." She frowned slightly when she heard the rumbling. "What is that noise?"

"Lovely." Any normal person would have said that with a very sarcastic tone after having ones face burped on, but not Archie, the old man really meant it.
"I can't stop but wonder, how did you come into the possession of little K'rull here? I've often trying to acquire a living one for the Academy, but failed every single time." Archie stated, twirling the ends of his impressive mustache. "In my experience, they tend not to react well to either cages or collars... Alas, poor Thomas was a very promising Intern, Dynasts bless his heart."

"I wouldn't dream of putting K'rull here in a cage or a collar." Tehol says sounding slightly offended, "He's my partner, sometimes I think I'm his as far as some things go." He says blankly before shaking his head like it hurt him to think.
As if on cue, K'rull emerged from underneath the chair and patted Tehol on the knee fondly while chattering away.
"I just sort of found him one day, and took a liking to the little thing so fed him some sort of berry, he must have took a liking to me and never left." Tehol mutters.

If m’lady wishes to know about Valgard, well,” he took a long drink, “you can climb the stairs going up the wall and have a looksie. You warriors from Bastion have the Mist monsters, we have our own form of...wildlife issues.”

I wonder if you have the same kind of magnetism with other species..." Archie studied his friend's grown son. "If so, it would be extremely valuable to have you tag along in my next expedition. Should be great for collecting some specimens for the Academy. Maybe you will even be my next intern, who knows?! That would be fantastic. We surely would avoid more situations like what happened to Vilnis... And Thomas... And Gregor..." He decided to stop listing all the interns he had lost to freak accidents, as it might scare away the lad. "Anyhow, I might have a job right around the corner. I received some cryptic message from a mysterious benefactor, no idea what it is about, but my adventuring spirit brought me hear to quench my curiosity."

"I don't know about that. Sounds like a lot of work. Life needs to be more simple." He waves his hand all around to encompass the area. "Simple is best, as my Da' always said. Though I think I got one of those letters too." He grumbles as he digs into his pocket searching, "Something about a grand adventure or some such. Do you remember K'rull?"
K'rull chatters and shakes his head in response.

Damien Cheavlier picked up his bottle of wine and glass. He then turned and walked to an empty table. He sat down and pulled out a set of dice. He gave them a shake and rolled them across the table. He smiled and leaned back in his chair. He took out a coin and threw it on the table. "Who would like to toss some dice?" He looked up at a random man in the crowd and smiled, "How about you friend? Do you feel lucky this fine day?" His smile crooked as he leaned back, "No doubt you have heard of my outrageous luck, but I swear that only is in effect when my life is on the line." He looked around the bar to see if any one else seemed eager to lose a few coins.

Two men sit down at the table and slap a few coins down. “I wanna roll first,” the shorter one said, a dirty and stout man in his late thirties. “I heard you got your lips firm around Lady Luck’s tit.” He wiped a meat pie’s gravy from his lip as he looked about.
The other man never said a word. He was a stick thin man about Damien’s own height with a hooked nose and ears that stuck out from his head like little satellite dishes. He stared intently at the Thief’s dice as though he could somehow will them into not being loaded.

Damien laughed and scooped up the dice, and placed them back into their bone cup. He then offered the dice and cup to the other man. "Of course my friend. And you should be careful how you speak of that Lady. She is my one true love." After the man had taken the dice he took a sip of wine, "And is your name friend?" He leaned back in his chair and smiled at both men.

The man grunted suspiciously but he covered the cup with his palm and began shaking to roll. “I’m Roger,” he grunted. “This here’s Mouthy Timm. You can see why I bet,” he farted as he tossed the dice. A one and a three came up. “Fuck my mother,” he grunted again.

"It is a pleasure Roger. Timm." Damien reached out and scooped the dice up in his hand, and then dumped them into the dice. He raised the cup to his ear and shook it hard. "Well I don't think we will still be friends if I fuck your mother, so lets just wager coins today." He stopped shaking just long enough to kiss the dice cup and then spilled the dice out onto the table. He looked down, but did not release the bone cup yet.

As though by magic the dice reveal a five and a two, seven being the perfect first roll. “Gods dammit!” Roger cursed. “Eh well, my lucks coming back to me,” he said, reassuring himself. “I heard you once stole a man’s pantaloons while he was wearin'em. That a fact?” He asked.
