Demeter watched Nigel run off and bit into an apple. The cabin boy sweeping the Captains room looked horrified but he averted his eyes and stared with a fixed glare at the floor as he swabbed. “You want to try killing a Nedrassian Serpent?” She shook her head. “You sure ain’t seen one then. I hope you have some real magic there in case they come to the surface. Little Nigel will be as useless against them as I fear big Nigel is about to be.” She finished her apple then chucked the core over the side. “Girl, I doubt even your professor knows the truth of the beast,” she said. “The Academy think the Nedrassian is a species of red dragon like creatures that pull any vessel they see beneath the waves.”
She chuckled and drank from a flask. “They’re quite mistaken. It may reproduce but it’s assuredly one beast and perhaps an offspring. Each serpent is but one head and neck of the greater body which lurks up to three hundred feet below when it surface hunts. I saw the body once and...” she smiled as she headed toward the stairs, “well, my hair used to be black,” she concluded.
Sabrina looked to the professor. “She’s lying right? Right? If the beast has heads three hundred feet long it would be bigger than a castle.” She sounded like she needed to believe that was a lie. Archimedes had only heard they traveled in packs.
Demeter entered her cabin and closed the door. The poor cabin boy was still inside. “All right then, Thornheart,” she said as she grabbed a riding crop and a jar of what appeared to be olive oil, “let’s see if sixty five years have taught you anything.”

"There hasn't been a prison invented that could hold me." Damien replied confidently. He knew that from personal experience. "And I was not really a political prisoner. Just got into a little spat. And he had no problem exiling me after that." His gaze turned back to her, "I am quite glad you enjoyed it. I am sorry I did not get a chance to speak with you. I got caught up in a game of chance." He looked around the ship as he continued, "I think we will be fast friends, you and I."

After an hour of noises far louder and more disturbing than the clanging of armor and at least three occasions of Nigel calling out his own name, the Adventurer Extraordinaire shouted from the cabin.
"Dr. Steller, come quick! It's a rare Valgardian Sea Cat!"

"I wouldn't worry about the Captain's tall tales. We all know how theses sailors are." Steller Said once the Demeter was out of earshot. He said it in a calming, dismissive tone. "It is biologically impossible to have a creature that size, even living underwater, and especially being physically similar to a red dragon. The body would collapse upon itself. Most of the scientific community agrees that they are pretty large sea serpents that travel in packs. There is nothing to fear, I assure you.... Now, eyes on the waves, let's see wait awaits us out there."
After an hour or so, the Professor heard shouting coming form the Captain's quarters.
"A Valgardian Sea Cat?! Splendid!" He was so excited about the prospect of seeing one in their natural habitat, that he failed to verify whose voice it was that had announced the sighting. "Come, Sabrina, fast before it submerges again!"

Sabrina just let out a breath and followed but Lazy Lenny for once had some pep in his step.
In the cabin, Demeter had actually gotten bored twenty five minutes before and actually had grown impressed Nigel could fuck a bed and be just as happy as if an actual person had stayed there.

Dr. Steller was greeted to a sight so lurid, that even Nigel's publishers would be hesitant to publish them as illustrations.
"My mistake, doctor, it was just a wet pussy. Aha!"

She liked him more than she thought she would already. “I hope we will.” She turned her head suddenly toward the stair to below decks. “Do you hear that? I think someone’s getting murdered down there. Wait...was that Nigel?” Her eyebrows shot up again. “Guess there’s no need to help, then.” “Did you find out how long the trip is meant to take?” Justine continued as though the horrifying sounds were no longer to be heard.

The bottom bunk is hers. A few minutes later she heard some grunting and clanging and then Elise entered with a big muscular man carrying a truly ludicrous amount of bags and equipment in. He sighs as he finally gets it on the ground and the sorceress yawned as though she had carried it herself. “Thank you so much my dear. Here’s your silver now run along.” “But you promised-“ the man stuttered and she held up a finger. “I lied my sweetling. You smell worse than those dead fish did.” She shooed him off then closed the door. “Men,” she said dismissively. She looked at the pile of stuff and made a motion with her hands and pointed to the dresser, then opened it and somehow shoved every piece of gear except her staff and a bright red cloak into it. “I’m glad I got you as a roommate,” she said. “You kept quiet last night which already made you my favorite.” "Yes well," She started looking at the other woman and nodding, "when there is nothing to say. I feel this group is going to be filled with people who talk for the sake of it." She said and looked mildly impressed as she managed to pack away all of her things. "My name is Thalia Vedas," she introduced in case the woman did not know, "The captain said you were a magic user?"

“I talk a lot too,” Elise admitted, the apparent hypocrisy of her position either not acknowledged or actually not occurring to her. “But I try to have something to say. “. She nodded and stared at Thalia a moment. “I’ve seen you before, back home,”. she said. “The Queen’s own project right? Hm,” she sounded impressed despite herself. “I haven’t been there in a few years but one doesn’t forget hair like yours. Didn’t you have some strange thing? Summoning elephants or the like? Sorry, I forget. Anyway, yes, I am the Academy’s Resident Spiritualist.” She wiggled her right hand’s fingers in an “ooh spooky” way.

Additionally, the cabin boy sprints out of the room immediately like a caged animal, knocking Sabrina over and immediately puking over the railing. Nigel is covered with bruises nearly from head to toe and Demeter has his breastplate in which she is using as a solid platform to write in her journal.

Instinctively, Archimedes rose his notebook, blocking Sabrina's sight line of the scene before them. He himself stared incredulously at naked, bruised, Nigel.
"So... No Sea cat?" The professor said, clearly disappointed. And a bit shocked. He carefully took a step back, as if faced with a blood thirsty predator.

"That was fast... didn't he just go down stairs." Damien chuckled, "It will take about 15 days. If everything goes to plan we will be arriving at the temple, and then later that day I will be returning with the treasure in hand." He replied with certainty. "Are you ready for the dangers of the deep dark jungle It looks like you have seen a scrap or two before." He studied her again, but he always trusted his own judgment implicitly. No matter how many times it had gotten him in trouble before.

"Just a stone rooster, old boy," Nigel replied, with another bark of laughter, looking incredibly pleased with himself. "But while you're here, the captain and I could use some libations."

"Spiritualism," She looked interested, "Is there any particular part you excel in?" She waited for the response before going on. "I have a couple of strange things" She admitted, crossing her legs on the bed, "But yes, The Queen took an active role in my education, for which I am very grateful" Thalia went on, "The thing you are referring to is my affinity for the classical elements" to demonstrate she held both her hands up and in one held a swirling ball of fire, and a swirling ball of air, but only briefly. "A thing for which your elementalists would have made me a pariah, no?"

No matter how many times it had gotten him in trouble before. Two weeks was quite a long time to be stuck on the water. She felt a panic begin to rise. Her palms felt itchy. “I....I’m ready.” The jungle was sure to be more familiar than the ship. “I’ve done a lot of things in my life. Killed a monster or two. And it was just me and Demetri then, so with more hands, we can do more, don’t you think?” She tried to smile to look less nervous.
