The young man shook his head. “No,” he whispered, “it’s not jewelry at all. It looks like...like an actual doomsday weapon.” He put the bauble away and then sheathed his sword. “And they probably have a bigger one up ahead.” Silvia saw a gigantic dark shape in the sky to the south, past the Odyssey even. It’s mostly in the clouds so its shape is impossible to discern. “I wonder why they abandoned their ship like that,” he added, seemingly out of nowhere. "Damned if I know," Silvia muttered. "Perhaps a kraken got them, perhaps some necromancer summoned reanimated skeletons, or perhaps it was something as boring as a storm." She thought about the green light. "We should destroy that light, if we can." She looked at the shape in the sky. "What's that, Zavier? It's not a cloud, surely. Could it be a living creature?"

“I agree. Destroying these Mist jewels needs to be our priority. Life’s hard enough without demons there too.” He followed her gaze and was quiet a moment. “It’s a dragon,” he said. “Maybe the last one.”

Life’s hard enough without demons there too.” He followed her gaze and was quiet a moment. “It’s a dragon,” he said. “Maybe the last one.” Her eyes widened. She needed to know more about the dragon, so she could write songs about it, and have even better stories to tell in Bastion's taverns when she returned home. And there almost certainly wouldn't be a second chance. "We need to take a proper look at the dragon," she whispered. "We need to know why it's here, how it reacts to the Mist. If they're linked to one another. Maybe the dragon's fire can destroy the Mist?" It was probably a forlorn hope, of course, but she might as well try to kill two birds with one stone.

Herneiros arrives at Thalia's interrogation with a sack. He looks very angry at something, but he doesn't direct it at the elementalist.
He looks at the prisone then Thalia. In Elven, he says, "Greetings. A moment please when you are free?"

The woman was silent except for her pained breathing a second before she answered. “It’s about the end,” she said finally. “Humanity’s last breath. Or that’s what they keep saying. You ever have an employer who’s just a total asshole?” She chuckled in a gurgling rasp. “They’ve got an ambush planned,” she added, “near the lake. Worse in the temple. The good looking sorcerer came up with some abomination to turn loose.” She coughed. “I didn’t see it but my cousin said it’s like a nightmare turned to flesh.” “And why exactly are you following them if they want to end humanity?” She asked, looking at her impassively, she didn’t much care why, but she wanted things to report back. “Do you want to live?”

In Elven, he says, "Greetings. A moment please when you are free?" She motioned to him to say she’d be just a moment, gestures we’re common in Lisandre, so if it was rude she wasn’t aware.

Zavier nodded then spoke quietly back. “Her name’s Searshe,” he said. “The same thing blocking my bauble from working is stopping her from approaching the island.” He brushed his hair from his eyes. “Her breath doesn’t effect the Mist one way or another...but it certainly affects its denizens.” His words picked up confidence as he talked. “I guess that’s why she hired you guys.”

They hired us for a job and by the time...ugh, by the time we heard their actual plan it was a bit late to change our minds. It’s the grey cloaks you need to watch for. They’re legitimate psychopaths I think. Some of them even drink blood. It’s fucking weeeird,” she emphasized.

Had she misheard him? He couldn't possibly mean that- She let out a breath. "The dragon heard us? And she can talk to you? Through that thing?" She indicated the bauble. "That's...remarkable. But how? Could I speak to her?"

“We have a healer, she may be willing to see to you” Thalia mostly wanted to keep her around in case she could be used to persuade her cousin to stop, and to hold her to account, “what are the details of the ambush?”

The woman nodded. “Healer...sounds nice,” she admitted. “There’s a pair of blade demons under the bridge leading to the temple. It’s narrow so you’ll have few ways to dodge them if you fight them there. The lake’s got some sort of spell on it and it can’t be crossed any other way...good luck...”. She began passing out from pain and blood loss.

Zavier shook his head. “The bauble is the key to the vault,” he said. “I...I don’t need it to communicate with her usually. I said I’m seventeen...” he sighed, “but I’ve been seventeen for a long time. When I tried bonding with Searshe, we discovered that the stronger being takes charge. I’m sure if we finish th is job she’ll speak to you. She generally takes human form but if you prefer her real one I guess I can’t blame you.”

Thalia tapped her on the arm, “I knew you know better than to have been lying to me, after what you’ve seen” she finished then let the woman be, she looked up at Herneiros and stood up, looking at him, “greetings, how may I help?” She asked also in elvish,

She grinned, though his confession regarding his age unsettled her but she was determined not to think about it quite yet. Then again, Thornheart too was older than he looked, so there were clearly some strange things going on in this world. "So what can we do to help Searshe right now? Or would it be better to focus on the Mist right now?"

He shrugged. “I assume we finish the job. If we figure out what’s causing the magical disruption then she can probably help. She’s pretty good to have on your side in a scrap,” he deadpanned. “Even I don’t actually know what the vault has. She just made it clear that failure wasn’t an option. It never is. Dragons can be annoying bosses,” he joked.
