Jean looked over the elf. “Not gonna complain,” he conceded. “And even Jean don’t keep Cerberus waiting too long. That dog can bite and not in the best ways.” "So a pirate, eh?" Ceutinde asked Jean as Silvia headed off to the interview. "Long way from Asanar."

Jean’s smile dropped just a little for a half second. “Am I?” He said. “I hadn’t noticed. I’m surprised an upstanding member of society such as yourself has heard of such a den of sin.” He took a long drink of his cactus fruit liquor. “But no, I prefer different and more profitable areas to ply my trade. Innuria is a barren desert of good hunting.” Ceutinde saw Silvia leave the room only two minutes or so after she’d entered. “You ever been on a pirate ship?” He asked. “You look like you’d be useful to a buccaneers crew.”

"Ship yes, pirate ship no. I quite like being on the water. But I'm picky about my company. Sailing with a pack of filthy seamen out to murder and loot doesn't seem like my idea of a good time." She glanced toward the bar, regretting not grabbing her own drink on the way. "But presumably you're a cut above the rest, if you get invitations to soirees like this."

Jean nodded and let out a boisterous laugh. “This is true!” He agreed. “I would much prefer the company of soft elven maidens and dark skinned beauties like your friend. But business is business,” he concluded. “And I suppose you’re asking yourself the question about whether me being at this gathering of such esteemed businessmen makes me more or less dangerous a scourge of the seas.” He leaned in. “If you’re ever bored I’d love to show you the Mathilda. She’s a right wolf on the seas. And my crew bathed on the regular.” His breath was somehow fresh despite the liquor.

"I'll take it into consideration." She replied with a mostly-fake smile. "What sort of cargo do you mostly deal in? Whatever the competitors of the merchants here deal in?"

Jean pointed with one finger to a server than moved it to Ceutinde and wordlessly summoned her a drink. He spoke to her without breaking the rhythm of conversation. “Mostly spices and exotic animals,” he said. “The Islands have billions of colorful birds and people want to spend a years wage on the damned things. There’s some mines I occasionally visit too, you know...because the aesthetic is so appealing.” He leaned in from where he stood like he was telling a secret from a distance. “If a Queen such as yourself requires something, then she has to but breathe the word through perfect lips and it will be hers.”

Ceutinde nodded a thank you to both Jean and the server as she took a drink, letting him bluster. "I will, once again, take it under consideration." She turned toward Silvia as her disguised form reappeared and called, "That was quick, darling. Went well, I take it?"

Silvia joined the duo. She felt a pang of envy that Ceutinde and the pirate were hanging on each other's words, and wished more than ever that she could show the pirate her true self. One day, maybe...
"Well, hello," she said huskily. "Am I interrupting? I can swim now and come back later if the two of you are busy."

"No, dear, not at all. Jean was just telling me about his business. Quite fascinating. I don't suppose you need anything smuggled in? He did just make the very gallant offer."

Silvia's eyes sparkled. "I have a...friend, who enjoys rare whisky," she said. "I can't think of anything else at the moment." She smiled from Ceutinde to Jean. "Don't either of you want to go swimming?"

Ceutinde looked down at her cocktail dress. "I would indeed - but I'm at a disadvantage. Don't wait on me, but I'll go get changed - you humans are so prudish about just swimming in the nude, after all."

Clearly mere liquor didn’t interest Jean at all for piracy. He was an artist after all. “Pirates spend their lives avoiding going into the water,” he said. “And it is hard to pursue sartorial excellence in swimming clothes. If a shark comes after your fine body Jean will smite it though, have no fear. I propose instead you enjoy some drinks on my ship. Better to be above the water than in it is my motto.”

Silvia considered for a moment then remembered that she couldn't swim very well anyway, not in the sea. Bathing in the sea was one thing, swimming was quite another. "I'm not one to pass up the chance to visit a pirate ship. Let's have a drink. We can bathe in the sea afterwards, I'm sure."

Jean had a dangerous glint in his eyes as she spoke. “Well then!” He clapped his hands together. “Fortune favors the bold I always say.” He gestures to a tall pale man nearby and raised two fingers then four then put them all together and rotated his wrist to turn his hand in a half circle. The man nodded and headed off. “I’m sure a moonlit swim would be more...entertaining. More entertaining company too, no?” He asked with his arms outstretched, every bit the showman.

Ceutinde had just started toward the changing room before turning back. Couldn't very well let Silvia traipse alone to a pirate ship. Not that the two of them would be much safer. "Yes, that sounds just delightful." It was a good thing she had long mastered the art of making a grimace look like a smile.
