"I will certainly keep that in mind, Jean dear - assuming that name isn't an affectation as well. But now you've piqued my curiosity. Tell me about this plantation of yours. It can't be in the Mists, surely?"

Jean smiled. “Sometimes you need to see something for yourself. And, yes, my birth name is Jean,” he assured her. “You’d be an honored guest anytime. Same with your beyond lovely friend here of course,” he added without hesitation. “But for reasons I shall dub as prudence, telling you too much risks spoiling the...mystery. Now that we’ve eaten who is ready for some more and better libations?” He waves for a bottle of some bright purple liquid that seemed to actually be glowing.

"Oh yes." Silvia never turned down an intriguing new drink and she was pretty sure he wasn't going to rape them or kidnap them. "It looks magical."

"I'll have a taste," Ceutinde replied, "But we really ought to get back to the party before too long, no? Regardless of how fascinating our host is."

Jean popped the cork and took a big drink then passed it to Roxanne. “It’s called a Falling Star. Enjoy!” He said boisterously. “Leaving so soon?” He feigned a pained expression. “Just when the bellies were full and the fun could begin...” he let out an exaggerated sigh. “But if you must return to your men of wealth and poor taste then I understand.”

"We have to," Silvia said with a sigh. "I said I was going swimming. But...maybe you should visit Ceutinde's place one day. We'd love to see you again and I bet her friends will be aching with envy when they meet you."

"Oh, certainly. My dear friend Silvia will no doubt be simply dripping," Ceutinde chose that moment to take the bottle from Roxanne and take a small swig, "With envy."

The drink tastes like it has plums in it along with something that gives it a slightly spicy taste, like cinnamon perhaps. Jean rubbed his chin. “Maybe,” he said after a moment. “It would be a difficult invitation to refuse.” He let Ceutinde keep the bottle. “Well then, back into the land of the overly civilized.” He rose and pointed for his people to start removing the decor from the topdeck.

Silvia sighed. "I wish we could stay. Actually, I really wish we could stay." She didn't realise it but she had spoken in Silvia's voice, not Roxanne's. She gave Jean a long, considering look. "Do you like to be surprised, Jean?"

Jean shook his head. “Usually if a pirate gets surprised they find us the next morning hanging off a tree branch or something.” He stretched his arms out to the sides and pushed his chest forward to loosen up. “I suppose at some point Hades would have wanted to meet you anyway. Or her,” he pointed his thumb at Ceutinde, “at least.”

"Yes, definitely. Ceutinde's the best businesswoman I know, and she has morals too, much more so than most. I'm nobody in the business world, so I probably shouldn't even be here." She shrugged. "But anyway, if you come to Bastion some day, you might find you like it."

"I guarantee it. I'll have a room ready for you whenever you see fit to grace us, Jean. Stocked with fine wines and nubile maidens."

Jean shrugged. “Well then at some point I’ll have to make a trip. Although I’ve never been so aggressively invited to a place. Are you sure you’re not agents of the crown out to honey trap a notorious outlaw?” He shrugged. “No matter. Let’s head back to this party. I’m sure there’s others to meet and drinks to enjoy.” He started off the ship on the short walk back to the party area.

"Just trying to please a friend, darling. Think nothing of it." She took a second swig and passed it toward Roxsilvia. "How long have you been coming to these things?"

“I mean, I could try to please you, if you’re not in a hurry,” Jean said. “I’ve been an associate of this merry little guild of moneygrubbers for like four years now,” he said. “They hired new for a job and were...left satisfied with the results.” He seemed to debate saying something then went ahead. “And the location conveniently keeps me well away from where I’m a wanted man.”
