Silvia drank deep of the wine. "Delicious," she murmured. She wanted to sympathise with Jean but she dared not. Roxanne was a law-abiding citizen who would never even take as much as a grape from a market stall without paying for it.
"I am sure you are too canny to get caught," she said. "But we are very lucky to have met you, and I thought Anselmo's was to be the highlight of my evening. Ceutinde, it's a very good thing we decided to go out to dinner tonight. And good for your business too, I expect."

"Oh, very. You really need to come visit more often, Roxy. Clearly you're good luck." She slipped her own arm around Jean's. "So tell me, dread pirate. We ought to mingle; who from among this 'little guild of moneygrubbers' is least uninteresting?"

As they head back they see Robert and a clearly annoyed Gregori talking as the taller merchant laughs at the shorter one’s aggravation. “Well,” Jean said as he thought it over, “Robert’s a normal sort. Bit prickly but fun enough. For you,” he gave a light slap on Roxy’s backside, “you want Everett. He’s...” he looked about, “over by the chairs on the beach. He’s the resident sort of responsible adult. Richer than about anyone here. And eventually,” he shrugged, “you’re going to meet Hades. But that isn’t really something you pick.”

"Who is Hades, really?" Silvia asked. "Is he even male? I assumed he was, but I didn't expect Cerberus to be female. I should like to be prepared, next time. And the name suggests that he's somewhat dangerous."

“There’s some questions you just don’t answer in certain spots,” Jean said. “That is one of them.”

She sighed. "So we don't get to find out about Hades until we meet? That's...a little scary, but I suppose it's exciting too. If it were me, I would want everyone to know my name. I know it's a secret and all but still, I should have thought a wealthy businessman would want to flaunt his wealth within his own place."

Jean leaned in and kissed her cheek then whispered into her ear. “Honey,” he said in his real voice, “there are some people that don’t have to flaunt anything because who they are is quite enough. I wouldn’t worry about Hades. Trust me.”

Silvia cursed inwardly. She wanted information now, she was tired of pretending to be Roxanne and didn't want to play the long game. For herself, she wasn't remotely frightened of Hades, but she knew Roxanne would be.
"Oh," she gasped. "It all sounds very strange to me though. Like a puzzle I can't solve, no matter how hard I try. But anyway, i hope we meet again one day." She gave him one of Silvia's arch looks and sashayed off towards Gregori.
"Hello," she said brightly. "I am so sorry, I got a little bit distracted. I know we were supposed to go swimming but the pirate stole me away for a while."

Gregori looked angrily at Jean but then he noticed her in the bathing clothes and apparently decided to let bygones be bygones. “To the water then?” He asked. “Then there’s going to be a bonfire at the beach tonight. It will make for quite the party, I promise you.” He leaned in. “I was able to scrounge up some spare clothing for you from some old...employees, if you need something that can get a bit dirty.”

Silvia was puzzled for a moment. "Is the dress I wore to dinner too fine for the party we'll be attending, then? Is it the kind of party where everyone gets drunk whilst playing silly games? I've always wanted to join one of those."

Gregori headed into the water as he responded. “You don’t want sand in that dress do you?” He asked. “But yes, we will definitely have too much to drink and we will certainly play any game you care to name at some point. You just look so good in the red I’d hate to have it ruined.” The water is quite warm even in the twilight and the waves don’t come up more than two or three inches. It’s about as tranquil as it gets.

"As long as the dress you found is pretty enough to suit me, I'll wear it," she said, and put her wrap and hat aside on the shore before following Gregori. She let out a long sigh as the water lapped over her ankles. "This is perfect. I haven't gone sea-bathing in so long. She headed deeper until she was in up to her waist.
"I'm not surprised you enjoy this. It almost wish I lived here."

Gregori chuckled and watched her dress down. “I’m sure you could arrange that,” he said. “But so long as I’m around I suppose you’ve always got an open invitation.” As he waded farther in, Roxanne saw a tremendously fat man walking on the beach. He has a quite familiar cloak folded over one arm and he’s waddling toward the main bar.

Silvia gasped and turned to Gregori. "Who is that man?" She asked. "He looks familiar. Perhaps I passed him at a party once."

Gregori looked and then chuckled. “Oh, Little Marcus? He’s a wizard, helps some of us safeguard our houses or shipments and the like. They use him to sniff out informants and the like, you know? One of those mind sorcerers. Don’t see him here often so I guess he’s between contracts.”
