Her lip curled. "Odd. I've seen another mind mage in passing who was...similarly proportioned. I wonder if they're all like that. But you've told me his evil; not what's necessary about it."

"Delightful," she said. " Much better than being a princess and having to be perfect all the time. "I've been lucky to grow up wealthy but nobody expects me to be more than myself, you know?" Silvia wondered if it was all talk. She had never actually owned a tiara.

Jon responded after a half second. “Working in the Spice Islands in the outer colonies can be a brutal life for many,” he said. “The more unscrupulous merchants outside the guild hired some sort of sorcerer to increase their production substantially via magic banned inside Innuria. Marcus was hired to mentally prod the field hands to work harder. He took to his job rather too easily and now if his employers let him go...” he got another drink, “then he can simply work with their competitors and drive everyone out of business.”
/
Gregori grinned. “And of course having family everywhere telling you every decision to be made. A woman like you should make her own choices, hm?” He asked. He put a hand on her waist. “What would my princess like her tiara to look like?”

"Disgusting. And no doubt he's not about influencing everyone here to keep him on the welcome list." She wrapped her arm around his. "That's quite enough of all that. Shall we?"

He put a hand on her waist. “What would my princess like her tiara to look like?” Part of her thought he was teasing, another part thought he was a fool who deserved to be parted with his money. Why shouldn't she play along? "Gold would be lovely, something fairly simple, set with rubies. Those are my favourites gemstones. So you really do have a mine, then?"

“We shall,” he said, leading her around the building she had interviewed in and pulling on a door. It opened into a flight of stairs heading down and he took the lead. A woman clothed only in jewelry and a crocodile skin loincloth opened the door and kissed Jon then smiled at the elf. “Ooh!” She said. “A new elf! Haven’t seen one in so long!” She kissed her right on the mouth. The room must have been magically insulated because there’s music playing that was undetectable until the door opened. Ceutinde could see nude dancers and a server making drinks with magic, ones that glowed and fizzed and smelled like a million flavors. Jon began taking his clothes off and handing them to the greeter. “Take special care of hers,” he said with a grin. “She’s a special guest now.”
/
“‘A’ mine?” He said. He whispered into her ear with hot breath. “I have four.” His lips grazed her cheek. “And if you want good with rubies and diamonds then my lady has but to ask and she shall receive. My goldsmith will fit it to you himself.”

Her heart raced. Nobody had ever offered her custom jewellry before. She didn't much care for Gregori but maybe she could learn something more from him, and maybe she could find a way to use his wealth, and his tendency to show off, to do some good in the world. "Four mines," she breathed. "Gods! You are very lucky, Gregori. But you know, you may find me dull after the magic of this evening, and won't all your money be wasted?"

The mogul shrugged. “Well I suppose you’ll have to find out once you come to my hidden paradise. Will you be somehow less radiant in the morning?” He asked. “Men get as rich as me to get a woman like you.”

"Oh, I'm sure they do," she said. "And what hidden paradise are you speaking of? I thought this place was paradise?"

Gregori laughed. “This place is a useful diversion,” he said. “Good for a pleasant evening in good company, but not like the luxury of my plantations. There youd only have to say a wish and it would come true.” She heard Marcus entering the sea with a woman on each arm. He was so large you couldn’t help but hear his hulk crashing in the waves.

Never hurt to get ideas from the competition. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance! That's quite the welcome. What's your name, darling?" Seeing Jon start stripping, she began pulling her own dress over her head. Not as though she'd bothered with undergarments.

She smiled coyly at him. "You have plantations? Tell me about those. You must have a lot of business interests. How do you manage to do everything?"

The woman grinned at her as she disrobed. “I’m Olivia,” she said. “So nice to meet you. Your tongue will be most welcome here. Any special requests?” She asked as she led them to a booth. Jon laid back and took a drink from a server. “Anything you want you request my dear,” Olivia said. “Twice if necessary.”
“Care to watch the show?” Jon asked, his body crossed with an occasional scar. “Or are you feeling like showing these whatsits how it’s done?”
//
Gregori grinned. “I’m very talented and I have friends everywhere. Friends who do all sorts of things,” he said. “I’m sure your family is much the same way.” He tugged her into him. “And I know what I want and how to get it, and I prefer to get my way.”

Ceutinde grabbed a drink as well, settling into the booth and peering out into the crowd. "Best to observe to start, I think. See how the natives behave. See what I might want to request from Olivia." She turned back to the hostess," Speaking of which dear, I want you to have a seat," She patted the bench next to her. "Is that allowed?"

She moved back a little. Silvia was the kind of woman who went for the things she was interested in too, but she didn't want Gregori, not like that, and she had to give him a sign. "Your friends must be very clever - not as clever as you, of course. Do you have ships too? I never thought much of them but Captain Jean's ship was very impressive."
