"Hmmm..." Herneiros inspected the charcoal prints, trying to see if they resemble the tracks of anything he had encountered before."

Herneiros can’t place what would have caused them, but the footprints are quite similar to his own foot in size, or at least close enough to indicate it was probably made by something human-sized. Drops of rain fall onto Herneiros as he studies the area.

"Were you an elementalist or possessed by a demon, I wonder?"
Herneiros looked in the direction of the creek before deciding to take shelter inside the building he was suddenly curious about.

He walked into the old damaged building and sees it is adorned like a ruined family home. There’s rotted walls that once delineated rooms with bed frames and a kitchen around. A family had lived here long ago, clearly. Skeletons lay in one of the back rooms in a pattern that to Herneiros suggests they were all killed from a central force like a magical blast radiating out in a circle.

Herneiros cast a simple spell for detecting magic around the blast site, while attempting to not disturb the bodies.

Spell residue fades over the years so there’s no trace of the spell itself, but the bodies all faintly radiate Mist magic even after all these years. The Mist takes care of its own it seems.

Tehol staying pretty close and well within sight of the group continues to explore more of the surroundings while Herneiros examines the one building.

Tehol noticed an old small building that was octagonal as opposed to circular, and the door is open, revealing a small altar surrounded by ancient candelabras and chairs on eight sides of it with the rows slowly expanding to almost fill the available floor space. Everything is focused on the center instead of a more traditional front to back seating arrangement, clearly more ritualistic than functional.

Herneiros frowned. There were simply not enough clues. What sort of beast appears in the middle of a family gathering? Unless it was one of the family...
He looked around the ruins of the house for any more hints of the arcane.

After all these years little remains. Whatever had happened here was likely to remain a mystery for now. He does get a slight sense of something, the same feeling he gets when a Mist monster nears, but this feeling is somewhat weaker and less easy to pinpoint than it usually is.

Looking for any sort of sacrifices or dust to see how long ago the last time the building was actually in use to perform a ritual.

In the absent of clues, the Wild Huntsman turned back towards the creek and began walking.

Wrugar looked around his own building to see if he would spot anything indicating that there might have been recent visitors, prior to their arrival.

Tehol can’t see any sign it’s been recently used. The preservation spells on the area must be strong but he can’t find scraps of clothing or food or blood or other stains to indicate sacrifices or the like.
//
Wrugar sees no clear evidence his building has been occupied for decades. Save the near pristine condition of the structure itself it looks abandoned.
//
The stream flows quickly downhill , very few turns or bends apparent before it empties into a larger river farther away. Small fish flit back and forth in the shallow water amid the small rocks and it bubbles and burbles like any brook he’s ever seen.
Farther past the stream he sees a clearing that could have been a gathering place long ago. More germane to his concerns it looks like some of the grass has been visibly disturbed, even from his distance the broken stalks are unmissable.

Herneiros immediately crounched under the nearest cover and drew his bow. He began moving from cover to cover in hopes of discovering what had been leaving such free tracks.
