“We could roast Nigel,” Kjell deadpanned.

Ceutinde gave an unladylike snort. "You don't want to eat a human his age. Gets stringy. And all those additives must be terrible for you."

A corner of Kjell’s mouth twitched a little until she gave in and broke into half a smile. “How old is he?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I would not eat Nigel... he would go straight to the thighs." Damien looked around, "Isn't there a fellow who is capable of rustling us up a boar. That fellow who is always bragging about being a hunter. We should have him rustle us up something we can eat." He looked at Justine. "Did you like Stanley. Well later on when it will not scare Kjell I will get him back out for you to play with." He gave her a wink.

“What age of human is appropriate for eating?” If Justine wasn’t at least 85% sure they were joking she would have begun to back away slowly.
“Anyway, I read his books when I was a teenager, and he knew Konrad’s parents, and he is at least 30...”

Ceutinde smiled up at Justine, squeezing her hand again. "I'd say you're just about ripe, my dear. The practice has been forbidden for centuries, but I might be tempted to take just the smallest nibble..." She leaned over and gave the back of her hand a kiss that turned into a playful bite.

Herneiros arrives alongside Tehol. "Greetings. Hope your trip was both dull and enlightening. Meanwhile, we have six heavily armed Nigels, two less heavily armed Nigels, a man and woman who may or not be magi or just have ordinary jobs that don't involve shooting, and a fellow with a spyglass who is probably the leader. He saw us walking around, but I don't think he knows that we know that he knows that we were there."

Kjell looked at their PDA with an expression that strongly conveyed “Gross”, and turned to Herneiros and Tehol when they appeared, glad for their arrival. “What did he look like?” she asked. “The maybe leader.”

"Long gray hair but still fit. Maybe in his forties. I am sure he could have sent a sniper after us but chose not to. I think he wants as many fish as he can get in the barrel first."

Silvia fought back a smile as Herneiros referred to all the soldiers - or so she thought - as Nigels. She sneaked a glance at Nigel to see how he was taking the reference. She was almost sure it was not a compliment. She kept listening.

“Not the guy I shot, then. He said their plan was to attack us after we’ve raided the vault. Maybe they’ve changed their mind.” She shrugged. “Or he lied.”

Justine giggled and yelled playfully as she pulled her hand back. “Shhhh, there’s people!”
She covered her mouth as she glanced toward Damien again. Unfortunately Herneiros and Tehol had turned up Or she could have asked him why Kjell was so afraid of the tiny little Stanley.
“Do you think there could be more than just one other team here? Or do you think everyone we’ve seen so far has been working together?”

Ceutinde rose and turned to face the others, smiling, as Justine snatched her hand back. She addressed the newcomers. "Also, time magic. The ship pieced itself back together and pulled away." She gestured toward the water. "As you may note by it not being here anymore."

Nigel was too distracted to remark on the huntsman’s new shorthand, not even offer Silvia a quickie while they were waiting for the return of their companions. “A flying ship...” he muttered to himself. “It can’t be. Not again.”
With Little Nigel disembarked, the Adventurer Extraordinaire positioned the cannon at the best angle to defend their makeshift headquarters from attack.

Silvia looked at the others. "So what next, then? We'll obviously have to be doubly careful from now on."
