Comte-in-Exile Damien Chevalier walked up beside Kjell, and looked out where she was staring, "What are we looking for here? THe sun was so lovely and hot when I got here I ended up dozing off. A hermit crab just crawled up my leg and woke me up. Damn creatures... they are like roaches." The crab was wiggling in his hand. He offered it to the gunner, "Would you like this one? I haven't named it yet."

Divination 144
Herneiros’s arrow flies high into the air and stops suddenly at its flight’s apex, while the hunter felt the usual dizzy thrill of seeing the air pass by at the speed of the missile. To his northwest he could see them, six heavily armed soldiers, two lighter armed gunslingers and a man and woman standing around a small fire. He sees a final man next to the small field gun with a spyglass scamming in their direction. With the flat terrain it’s probable they had been spotted at some point or another but their current position is in a shallow trench like cut in the ground that keeps them out of a line of sight.

Herneiros’s eyes returned to their usual sky blue. There was a brief pause as he readjusted to the sensation of being back on the ground, before turning to walk back to camp.
"That spell used to make me throw up every time..."
He kept his bow out as he informed Tehol what he had seen. "There are a dozen Nigels, with big guns and big swords. One of them sees us, but I don't think he knows that we know that he can see us..."

"Do they have the same personality as Nigel? How could you tell." He says voice filling with dread and taking on a 'kill me now' tone.

Herneiros shrugged. "It's what I call any well-fed Imperial looking excited to blast something with their new cannon."

I haven't named it yet." "The warship The Odyssey shot to shit just got better and fucked off," she replied, still looking to the sea. When Elise passed them, she finally tore her gaze off it and turned to see Damien's offering, her brow furrowed. "You name your food?" she asked. "No thanks, I don't eat that." Had he just been lying on the beach the entire time? Whatever. She shook her head and turned to Justinde. "How the fuck did that happen?"

"It...it went backwards. In time. We were on it and the hull started going back to where it was before we shot it. And then it sailed backwards, with no one on board as far as I could see." Ceutinde replied to Kjell's question, eyes not leaving the ship as it moved away. "Strange, strange magic."

Likewise, Kjell went back to staring at the ship. "How far back do you think it could go?" she asked.

Damien looked at Kjell and shook his head, "I wouldn't eat this little guy. He is only a morsel." He held up the little crab. "Just look at him poor little thing. Though I do not feel that bad for him. After all he was trying to eat me. Must have thought I was a corpse." He gave a little smile at the crab. "Perhaps I will name him Stanley. He looks like a Stanley." He held the crab up close Kjell's face so she could really admire Stanley's shape and colors.

Likewise, Kjell went back to staring at the ship. "How far back do you think it could go?" she asked. "It's already further back than I would have expected. May as well figure it'll head right back where it came from." Ceutinde answered, ignoring the nonsense about crabs. She reached up, remembering the flight from the ship, and squeezed Justine's hand. "Thank you, darling. Seems I've turned into the damsel in distress here, always needing to be pulled to safety."

The vessel continued on its strange journey back through time before vanishing behind the mountains to the west. The Odyssey approached the dock after it had gone and a few sailors wheeled Little Nigel down.

"Wh-" Kjell instinctively jerked away from the crab, "Get this thing out of my face." She stepped away and held up her hand to create space between them in case Damien came again with the stupid crab.
"We should get back," she said, addressing everyone present. "Herneiros and Tehol went to scout ahead. Once they're back, we'll likely be moving inland."

Damien chuckled, "You mean get Stanley out of my face." He pulled back his arm and made a flourish with his hands and the crab was gone. He bowed deeply to Kjell, "I did not realize you were afraid of crabs. I will not expose you to Stanley's menace again. I swear on the grave of my father." Then turned to the others so he was standing beside her. When she was not paying attention he subtly slipped Stanley the Hermit Crab into one of her pockets. "That is good. Do we have time to have a pig roast? It seems to be apropos of the setting." He looked around and took in a deep breath. "The wind is lovely here. It makes me want to take another nap. Maybe I will while the pig cooks."

Damien could have put himself into Kjell’s pocket if he wanted. His hands move so fast they can barely be seen when he deigns to rouse himself from his torpor, and the hermit crab vanished somewhere into her clothes tucked cautiously in its shell.

Justine blushed. “I’d never let you get left behind. Especially not on a time shop as it rolls straight back to hell...”
She turned her head at the mention of the little crab. “Awww, Kjell, why don’t you like Stanley? Aaaaaand...he’s gone.” She looked a little disappointed, but it didn’t last because she was still glad to see Damien again. It had been awhile. “We’re having a pig roast? I don’t see that being wise. Also I don’t see a pig.”
