Herneiros considered her words before speaking again.
"Rich man buys very cute tiger cub. Rich man raises and feeds it until it is big enough to eat rich man. Rich man becomes nervous and releases tiger. Tiger eats strangers instead. Big philosophical riddle is this... was rich man responsible for the deaths of these people?"
Herneiros shrugged.
"You may not control your tigress. But unfortunately, she is still your tigress."

The boat that Ceutinde took over to the Odyssey returned, and the elf pulled herself up on deck. "What in all the hells was that?" She asked, eyes wide.

“Another world,” Kjell replied, apparently a bit more talkative after the whiskey and... well, that thing. “The bard thinks she and the boy summoned it and the nobleman is convinced he got us safe passage by yelling some Imperial phrase at it,” she added in Elvish and gave Ceutinde a look of ‘see what I’ve had to put up with over here?’. She had no idea what was going on with the de Vair woman.
She took another swig from the bottle and leaned back on the railing to look at the city while it was still there. She was definitely going to draw it later, too, but like, in the privacy of her cabin so no one had to witness another Herneiros(tm).

She frowned and glanced at Konrad and his bloody shirt. Had her sister done that? If she had, he was taking it remarkably well. “He and I have known eachother a long time. Not well or deeply, but we know eachother. Maybe...” Well, maybe Juliette was trying to get something they both might enjoy for a change. Konrad looked up and saw Justine looking at his stained shirt, and quickly turned away to busy himself at the other railing. Despite what the others may have thought, there did seem to be a connection between this strange Island and the imperial house. And he meant to learn what it was, if he could.

"Leave it to humans to think that an ancient sea serpent does what it does for their sake." Ceutinde replied in Elvish, walking along the railing to Kjell and holding a hand out for her to pass the whiskey. "Is Justine any better?"

She handed the taller elf the bottle and glanced at the woman in question. "I don't know," she said. "Was she unwell?"
When the serpent began curling back into the sea, she let out a deep breath, even if it speaking sent goosebumps up her arms. "That was probably Imperial for 'good night'," she said, the corner of her mouth twitching a little.

Ceutinde shuddered as the creature spoke, before chuckling at Kjell's comment. "I don't know that I'd say 'unwell'." She answered, taking the bottle and a rather long swig. "But different personality than before. I've seen it a few times. But at any rate, seems we're the calmer ride. Thornheart got slashed up and Tehol got knocked out over there. No idea what happened, I didn't bother asking."

Konrad considered the words of the beast carefully, and then headed to his cabin. When the day broke he would go to the other ship and seek out their professor, who may be able to provide some knowledge.

"Perhaps it was well-timed. Seems they were less trigger-happy at a pivotal moment." She thought about the other thing and blanked. "Different personality? Like with...?" she motioned at the bottle.

She turned her head quizzically before realizing what Kjell meant. "Oh, no. More than that. You or me drunk is still you or me, just drunk. Some people, it's like there's more than one person in their head. At different times, a different one is in control of the body. At least, that's how it seems to go. We don't know much about it." She took a smaller sip and handed the bottle back.

"Hmm..." Kjell frowned a little in confusion as she digested this, taking the bottle back. "And what happens to the ones that are gone? Where do they go?" she asked after a while.

"I don't know, exactly. They're still in there, somewhere, or it seems like that. I'd like to figure it out. Try to help her." She drummed her fingers on the rail. "Wasn't expecting to run a clinic on the way to the adventure, but here we are."

As the serpent departed, and the city sank beneath the waves, Silvia was struck by a powerful sense of loss and longing, strong enough to make her cling to the rail and let out a long, shuddering sigh. She hadn't expected the serpent to raise such emotions in her, and she hadn't expected to see the wondrous city, but there it was. Even the fact that the creature had spoken in an unnaturally loud 'voice' intrigued rather than frightened her. She looked at the place where the city had been and, as she did so, a resolution formed in her mind.
"By Deliah, I am going to visit that magical city, and I'm going to meet the Nedrassian serpent again, if it takes me to the end of my days to do it."

"Depending on whether they're awake or asleep, this sounds like it could be a really bad thing or a really good thing," she mused, and as an afterthought, drank more whiskey. She inspected the bottle and wondered if anyone would want it back. It was almost out. "Well. Here's to hoping you can close shop for the night," she said with half a smile. "Though..." She realised she didn't exactly want to expand on her first thought, and the best way to deal with something was to avoid it altogether. She glanced over her shoulder at Justine and then to the other elf. "Perhaps you should go check on your friend."

No more blood on my hands and my clothes or opening my eyes in a strange place.” She looked down at her dress and saw blood spattered there too. Tears welled up in her eyes. “I’m fucking crazy.”
