Justine started reloading her arquebus, glad even Nigel had fallen back. If they got through this...well, she had been through worse a time or two, hadn’t she?

There was a little tickle in the back of her mind as she rammed the bullet and cloth down into the bowels of her firearm. This is pathetic. You’re taking too long. Her stomach twisted with dread. She knew what was coming. It was unnoticeable to the others as the expression in her eyes changed.

“This is more like it,” said Juliette as she grinned at the beast. This would be fun, wouldn’t it? She began to weave together threads of magic and then sent them toward the giant spider.

Stricken and confused, the massive spider’s maw finishes gathering its beam and it erupts out in a red misty funnel that resembles a traditional rendering of a dragon’s fire. Silvia faces it first and she has to sprint out to avoid being completely engulfed in it, the poisonous gas burning her eyes and choking her as it blisters her lungs. The Mist creature is too injured to aim so it turns from left to right, spraying the hillside with the toxic fumes. Plants die and everyone touched feels the hideous searing pain.

Silvia gasped for breath. The bloodlust deserted her but she was in pain and angry. She downed her healing potion as soon as she was out of range.  She decided to continue her attack, but she wouldn't let herself get close to the spider's maw this time, nor under the bulk of its body. She would attack its legs from the side instead, and stick to legs on the same side she had previously been attacking.

Juliette pricked her finger with Justine’s blade and ignored the choking burn. She needed her sack of flesh alive, not unhurt. She kissed the droplet of blood then blew in a manner that suggested Nigel may want her number after the fight and the black Ichor pouring from the cannon wound and Thalia’s spell stopped congealing, now running out of the beast in an uncontrolled torrent.

Tehol stands to the side of the cave and cautiously peaks his head out and peers inside trying to see if he can even tell if the witch they are chasing is even inside of it. As well as to see if anyone else is present.

The cave goes in thirty or forty feet then it turns to the hard left. Korabas seems convinced she is in there but he can’t see far.

"There's probably, like, magic traps and shit if she's in there, right?" Kjell whispered to her companions, then turned to Zavier. "Can you see in there with that thing?" she asked, nodding at the bauble he carried. She had no idea what it did.

Zavier looked at it then flicked it with his finger. “Whatever’s keeping Searshe from joining the fight here is blocking my link to this too,” hebsaid. “Right now it’s just a fancy vault key. Sorry.”

Little Nigel and Sylveria finish the beast off and the green lightning affects a lot more people now. As the beast disintegrates back into the Mist that nourishes it a piece of black ore-like material falls onto the ground.
