Kjell looked at their retreating backs and then the burning ships, and by the time she looked back, they were already pretty far gone. She put away her sword and her axe. “This fucking day,” she muttered. She felt a little light-headed, sure, but the nobleman had clearly been worse off. Looking at the destruction once more, she headed off in the direction of the Odyssey. But, like, not because everyone had told her to.

Almost as if the world had come to a sudden pause, Konrad found himself back by the injured wizard, one of the several who had attack them, initiating this huge battle. Konrad slapped him awake and then placed the tip of his blade over the man’s heart.
“Try to Say a spell and I will skewer you,” he said. “I have questions, and I’ll have you answer them.” He didn’t add “or else.” There was no “else.”
“Ready? What’s the name of your leader, and why did he order you to attack us?”

The wizard’s eyes went from side to side as he regained consciousness. He looked down at the sword and then listened to Konrad’s words. “It seems arrogant to assume we need a leader,” he chuckled through the pain. “but Lord Dominius will be ever so thrilled Thornheart has another crew of promising adventurers to lead to ruin. It’s been, why...twenty five years since anyone’s interested him enough to get involved. How is dear old dad anyway? Has he quested from his tomb yet?”

But What does this have to do with my father?”

“Nothing,” the man laughed. “Don’t be so self centered. Some of us wanted to wait til your little mission ended before attacking but Koppen and I have never been patient. He...he did warn us that would be our undoing.” He blinked and closed one eye. Apparently he couldn’t keep Konrad in focus any other way. “You don’t even know what Searshe hired you for.” He chuckled. “Not really. How droll....”

“and you do know what we were hired?” Konrad replied, “by all means do tell.” He swayed a little on his feet, and the thin tip of his blade drew blood.

“Oh my dear Lord Konrad,” the wizard said, wincing at the cut. “That would be telling a secret that isn’t mine. I’ve heard that’s frowned upon.” He chuckled a painful burbling chuckle. “Idle gossip is for widows at the market.” His voice was slurring now. “Your fantasy awaits...and she is a spiteful one...so spiteful...Ill save a drink for you in hell my lord.”

“Tell me about the blood draining,” Konrad asked, changing subjects. “When our elf shot your comrade, he drained the blood of all those people. Who taught him to do that?”

“I’m sure Archelaus would love to tell your little gunslinger himself. But the answer you want isn’t here on this island of sin and debauchery. You came all this way for answers when you know where the rot lies. I do believe...you’ve always known. I do have one favor to ask...for all this honesty...when you do go to kill dear Eustace, do tell him...” he coughed up a bloody foam, “do tell him that his guests can not wait to host him.”

Konrad cocked his head. “I shall endeavor to do that,” Konrad said. And then he impaled the wizard, putting him out of his misery.
Curiouser and curiouser, this whole thing was. Konrad had a feeling that he had only a few parts of the puzzle. The question was, whom among the party to share them with? And who might share their pieces with him?

After she finished channelling the fire she looked around in case anyone else needed her to clean anything up, and if not, she headed back down to the ship, letting the ice wall slowly melt.

The hurricane winds blow but the rain begins petering out soon. Thalia has no issue returning to the ship. The captain is back on deck handling the wheel. “That you?” She asked. “The fireworks display?”

Thalia nodded, and pointed to the ice wall too, “it didn’t damage our ships at all did it, I was attempting to keep it on the pirates, it was perhaps, a tad heavy handed, but that is the way in Lisandre” she explained, not that the crime rate was very high there, as there was so little poverty, but when crimes happened they were dealt with. “Sorry I didn’t help sooner, I was in a trance”

Demeter shook her head. The wind is now blowing everyone dry. “Not even a little. Never seen anything like that before. You all do that in Lisandre?” She undid her braid to let the wind blow her hair.

“No, even there my skill set is pretty unique, most people master one maybe two spells, or have elemental superiority, but I was born with an affinity, which is why I’m here,” she explained vaguely, “my abilities pale in comparison to the queen though.” She said with a soft smile, she looked at the captain and marginally raised the temperature of the wind so it was warmer on her, like a gentle hairdryer instead of being too hot, to help with the drying,
