"How big?"

Tehol shrugs, "Decently."

Nigel continued forward to the vault doors, though was unsure how they would open them, as that was supposed to be the thief's job and the cannon was upstairs.

Thalia has managed to open the other door and so she approached it too to see if she could deal with it, Hernious seemed to have the goo covered.

Thalia feels the magic blocking the doorway and can’t affect it, but she senses the power behind the entryway is vast and not connected in any way to the weblike matrix that forms the temple’s protective spells. If she combines her powers with the other magicians they may be able to do more but even that isn’t a certainty.

Thalia cursed, “if we want to get in, we’ll need to combine the other magic users too,” she explained, “even then it may not be enough.”

Because the big mean magic user that was Elise disappeared with the other group, and his magic dagger was supposedly connected to the magic of this temple. Tehol takes it out and start examining it next to the decorations of the walls and doors to see if there is anything he can be doing with it. Like using it as a key or separating the veil of the worlds allowing him to travel through the cosmos.

Ceutinde came forward from the back of the group. "What does it need, you think? A little nudge from several different schools?" She looked over it herself. "Makes sense, you would want layers on this sort of thing."

Tehol’s knife flips and points straight up into the air toward the top of the temple when he withdraws it from its sheath. He can point it in other directions but it resists.

As the nerds talk, Nigel heard a slight clanking sound below, like chains scraping on metal. It’s dm definitely coming from further below.

Tehol kind of experiments with the knife and as it continues to just point straight up he waves over to Thalia. "This place seems to have a very strong magnetic force pointing upwards. Maybe we should go there first."

"There is something further down," Nigel informed the others, as he continued down the stairs. "We can open the vault when we have regrouped with the others. Don't worry about your performance issues, Thalia, it happens to the best of us...so I'm told."

As he reached the bottom of the stairs he heard the noise growing stronger. It’s now much like a dog straining against a restraint. The door he’s facing is three meters tall and two wide with unsecured steel bars that could be used to hold it shut. With the ancient writing faded he can barely make out “Hostile Species” and then some illegible script that’s washed out.

He cracked the door open to peak inside, deciding if whatever was inside looked beyond their capabilities he would close and secure it.

The blue lights only allow him to see a bit inside the next chamber but it is clearly a short tunnel that expands after a few feet into a much larger arena. He sees the grey slime everywhere and smells the musty scent of rot and neglect. He sees a few abandoned weapons laying about, a few spears and a strange curved sword among the mess. There’s no sign of bodies or anything similar.
